Well, based on Sideshow's comment about the "new, beefier" body, there's no chance we see Roadblock next. Either Stalker or Tunnel Rat would be a top choice for me, or Airborne, who was Navajo but who's design was less stereotypically ethnic than Spirit's design.

I'm beginning to think that the whole "new female body" comments, much like the muscle bodies for Indy and Toht (and the Joes who'd require them), are just detouring excuses not to make those figures. I'd really like SSC to prove me wrong, but given their compulsive obsession with polystone, it's looking more and more to be the case.

I don't think thats the case at all. They know folks want a strong product from this line. So why rush something out? Just to get it bashed all to hell by the fanboys of the world. They'll get them out and when they do they'll be awesome I'm sure.

i think there is a lot of money out there for SSC to develope the muscle body, it can be used across a lot of lines. as josh said they'll do it right, at least I hope so. same with the fem bod. might as well take their time and get it right.

there are a lot of figures they can do with the pro in the meantime.

Actually, the standard Pro looks feminine enough. All they'd have to do is replace the chest with a breasty piece, make thinner arms and a thinner neck and it's golden. :lol

If they were that serious about it, they would've leaked a prototype by now. They've been using that excuse for a lack of female Star Wars figures since Adventure Gear Indy appeared two years ago. It's not flying anymore. As it is, their response to the muscle body question isn't one of "We're working on it." but more so, "we'll look into it." :huh

Well, at least they are considering the color change feature on Zartan!!

And statues suck. Waste of resources.

just means we'll see them by 2016 or later...I never seen a company take so long to develop things, from development, to pre-order,to actual release :gah:

I'm sure there's a bit more to it. :lol I think they want something a bit more balanced out. Plus something that looks good.

I dont think just because they havent said here it is doesn't mean its not about ready or being worked on. I do think muscle body figures will cost more and I wonder if they're thinking people might _____ like crazy.

We'll see. :lol Again, I'd love to be proven wrong, but seeing is believing, especially where SSC's 12" lines are concerned and we ain't seen nothing yet.

Perhaps. But they mentioned the development of a new female body just yesterday on their "Ask Sideshow" page, when someone asked about the possibility of an Aurra Sing :)monkey4) 1:6 figure:

By now you have seen the announcement of Momaw Nadon in our 12-inch line, which is the only place he’ll appear for the time being. Aurra Sing isn’t currently part of our plan for the 12-inch line, but she is a mid-tier contender once our development on the new 12-inch female body is complete.

So, either they're flat out being dishonest, or a new female 1:6 body indeed is in the works.

Development could very well just be mentioning "anybody want to start working on a female Pro?" at meetings or even a regular pro with boobies sharpied on the chest though and they wouldn't be lying. :lol

I agree with you Nam. I think SS is trying to phase out as much 1/6 stuff as they can. They love statues. The dioramas are cool but come on. No where near as fun as a 12 inch action figure you can pose several times.

thats why this SDCC event is such a bore already...its ALL about expensive statues with Sideshow...Now I understand why they needed
to join forces with Hot Toys as a distributor...soon Hot Toys will end up doing it all, while Sideshow produces their stand still, nice looking but boring statues.Once they are done with Starwars and G.I.Joe..good- bye 1/6 scale from Sideshow for good.

Not that I agree with this (I suspect that Sideshow is doing well enough with the dollies to continue producing them into the foreseeable future), but wouldn't this make sense? Licenses aside, Hot Toys 1/6 scale figures are clearly superior to Sideshow. Sideshow can't attempt to compete in terms of quality. And Sideshow makes great statues, so each company would be focusing on what they do best.

Would be a bummer in the sense that Sideshow has had pretty good taste in licenses, but if they can keep farming out the figure production to Hot Toys (ala T2), then I think this could be a pretty positive change, if it were to happen.

IMO, going the HT route would be a HUGE fail. Especially with Joe and SW. With the price hike, most would have to be more choosy and HT's notorious for only going in 3-4 figures deep into a license and then banging out several alternates of existing characters. So the days of having a substantial and varied collection based on a license would be over.

Well, I won't argue about the depth of lines, because Sideshow has done far better than HT in that sense, but I don't think the price difference is so extreme as to turn folks off. If you are willing to pay $110-20 for a figure, you are probably willing to pay $160-70.

But at the end of the day, this would be a business decision. If Sideshow completely turns away from 1/6 scale figures, it is because they don't think they can turn a profit with it. However, like I said, I think Sideshow is doing pretty well with these two lines, or they wouldn't have lasted as long as they have with the kinds of releases we are getting. If the Joe line was floundering, I don't think they would do Red Ninja in lieu of someone more recognizable--that is a sign, to me, that they anticipate the line will go on for awhile.

Red Ninja could very well wind up being a Faramir so I'm not convinced. As for the price hike going with HT, that's two for the price of three with Sideshow's license, so yes, it would definitely have an impact. Especially among those currently _____ing about the $10-$15 price hike from SSC.

I don't think the Joe line is any kind of trouble. So jumping into the Red Ninja is a sign is jumping the gun. I really think this is one of those lines Sideshow will get to everything really important. As far as the price hikes. Yeah, people don't care for the increases we've seen and expect to pay yesterdays prices.
