I just read a little bit of the newest Joe TPB collecting the early 90's issues where Firefly revealed himself as the Faceless Master and actually think he'd make for a pretty cool figure:

Glad to own it in a TPB, but I'm glad I stopped collecting the series before this garbage. The storylines are thinner than an anemic alcoholic and the wannabe Liefeld art is painfully horrid.
As for Firefly, Saboteur Firefly > Ninja Faceless Master Firefly. I don't care how badass you think the Arashikage Scorpion is.
That art is light years beyond Liefeld.
Pre-ninja FF might be cooler than Faceless Master FF but Faceless Master FF >>>>>>>>>>>> SSC Ice Viper FF.

Duke looked horrid with the round guns, grit teeth and overly hairy arms. It was bad wannabe Liefeld art. The only difference is that dude drew backgrounds.

Firefly is perfectly fine the way he is. Too many other figures to double dip, but the ones that will be / should be double-dipped are: Commando Snake Eyes, Joe Storm Shadow, and helmeted Cobra Commander.
At the risk of having four different versions (hooded Cobra Commander, helmeted Cobra Commander, and variant Crimosn Cobra Commander) I think a Battle Armor Cobra Commander would be cool as well, and I'd buy one.

I think the 93 black and green figure looked great and would buy the 1/6th version, Firefly isn't the Faceless Master nonsense.
But there are many other characters I want to see before that.

I wanted something more like this:
The oversized jacket with patches, didn't appeal at all to me. I would love to have one customized, but no rush, just hope they put out a statue more similar to this than the figure.

A custom 84 Firefly was so easy to make. We all knocked ours out a couple years ago.

Really no rush, would rather have one produced by SS with the box and all, but have seen the custom one and looks nice. Unfortunately I don't collect other 12" figures to kit bash my own.
