next good Joe

Great picture. I've never been a Shipwreck fan, but that's the best he's ever looked.

I always took my GI Joe stuff kinda seriously, and figure guys like him and Bazooka never would have made it in.

Looking much more forward to essentials like Snow Job, Recondo or Torpedo than Shipwreck.

I imagine Shipwreck is the "marine environment" figure promised years ago.

Bazooka. And Alpine to go with him.

Somehow I think we'll see Torpedo before him. I would prefer Shipwreck myself, but I think a SEAL better fits in with what Sideshow's going for...

(And yes, I know Shipwreck became a SEAL later or some such nonsense - you all know what I mean!)

Those'd be cool too. :)

The problem with outfitting Shipwreck as a SEAL is that the purists will never be happy. And all we'll hear is that it's Shipwreck in name only.

I personally would be fine with that, because a classic SEAL-type figure would be more in line with what Sideshow has done thus far. But I do understand that a more or less generic SEAL figure, card art accurate head sculpt or not, will not please fans of the original figure. But I will say that the purists should know by now that Sideshow is/has been doing their own thing with this line and people shouldn't expect that to change. If all of a sudden Sideshow decided to do card art accurate figures, they'd essentially be giving up on what they've done to this point and starting over; it'd be a totally revamped line.

Honestly, Sideshow would be better off not tempting it and just avoid making figures like Shipwreck, Spirit, Wild Bill, and the other more flamboyant characters. They have a hard enough time pleasing everyone with what they've already released, why go to the trouble only to have to deal with a bunch of *****ing and moaning by a bunch of disgruntled 35 year olds?

People wouldn't buy Shipwreck in his dungarees? Besides, Shipwreck's function is Sailor, and should be dresses as such. Torpedo's is SEAL.

Why bother licensing the GIJoe name if you are just going to put out generic military guys. Buy bland Soldier Story and stuff instead.

39 years old and I want Spirit, Wild Bill and even flamboyant Raptor!

It's time for Sideshow to start getting into the Unique Joes (like they are doing currently on the Cobra side) and stay away from the common camo looking joes which we now have.Joe is filled with colored character outfits,we need more "Unique" like Snow Job,Shipwreck,Spirit etc

^^^It was foolish of me to mention ages; that clearly makes no difference. And like I said, I do understand people being unhappy with Sideshow ignoring 30 years worth of nostalgia. But Shipwreck in his bell bottoms doesn't really mesh well with what Sideshow is currently doing. And for people that want characters like Shipwreck, Quick Kick, Spirit, or any other figure, I completely respect that.

My 2 favorite characters are RocknRoll and Barbecue. But based on Sideshow's efforts so far, I completely understand why one of them is sitting on my shelf while the other isn't. All that said, Zartan is by far the most outlandish of Sideshow's offerings (followed soon by Major Bludd) and he is one of my favorites that they've done.

So show me Shipwreck (who I am a fan of), or Spirit, or any other Joe and I'll decide for myself whether or not to buy. I want the classics too, I'm just trying to be realistic based on what we've seen so far.

Shipwreck with commando sweater and watch cap sculpt as ex. Cause seals used to wear that ***** back in the day. I would buy in a heart beat.

Sculpted watch cap? Like a beanie? They could just make one out of cloth, wouldn't that be cheaper? A sailor cap would need to be sculpted. Haven't seen too many out there; MATSU@BE has one though and it looks pretty damned good.

Of course it'll be $150 shipped for the whole set so never-mind.

I agree. I think they might have started with a more "realistic" look but they seem to be getting more and more RAH-accurate as time goes on...

I think there's a place for BOTH Torpedo and Shipwreck, personally!

I'd buy him...
If He were Made, Just like this, Pariot and All.

Yeah, gotta admit, that version of him is iconic and would bring great diversity to my current line-up of land-based Joes (Duke, Hawk, SE, RnR, and bashed Recondo & Scarlett).

Rather see Torpedo (still not a fan of Shipwreck), but at this point, I'd take nearly anything. Just hope they keep focusing on core characters ('82-'86) rather than some of the embarrassing ones created later.

Kudos to whoever started the clamor for Wild Bill. I've been re-reading the comics (I'm on issue 82 or so) and I'd forgotten how essential he is to the team. He shows up about every three issues or so, transporting the team wherever they need to be.

Or covering them with a big ol'M-60 when needed.............

Totally.

And they can include the commando sweater (please not SE's, though) and watch cap/extra headsculpt as accessories, so people can easily get the Devil's Due "modern" look if they want. :)

Add in Polly, some kind of grapple, and an MP-5 or something and you're golden, Sideshow.

Not sure he needs his "pirate" pistol, though. :)

Fixed it for ya!:wave

Some of you guys who have been around for a while should know better than to even hope for accessory sets from Sideshow.
