I never put his backpack on. Seemed lame to have a guy with a backpack that had no straps.... he was one of the last joes I really dug.

If I remember correctly, he came with web gear that simulated his backpack straps...can any one else confirm?

He had a bad ass gun as well as a little flashlight... things like that, flashlight, always seemed cool to me as a kid.

I remember as a kid being fascinated about the different explosion effects on the card art. They were always the bright lit explosives instead of this digital display they have here on Outbacks card art.

Cell phones or walkies were always really cool for me as a kid, like Firefly's lil green walkie was awesome! Still have FF with all his accessories :rock

You can see the plastic webgear behind Outback's backpack in the pic above. It went behind his neck, down each shoulder, and behind his back, and was supposed to be the straps for his back pack.

I always dug the extraneous accessories, be they extra weapons or gear. For example, I always liked the fact that while Low Light had his sniper rifle, he also came with an Uzi...I thought it convenient that in case Cobra got the drop on him in his sniping position, he had small arms to defend himself. I also liked Hit & Run's duffle bag with climbing gear, and Tunnel Rat's satchel charge and two removeable flashlights...Tunnel Rat was definitely one of my favorites, but I was always puzzled about why a guy crawling around tunnels carried a machine gun (pistol or shotty would have been more appropriate) as well as a huge backpack.

This is true.

Was always imprssed by figures that could all their gear at once including places to store things. Storm Shadow and Zartan come to mind, '85 Snakes had a spot for his sword too, but the list really goes on and on and on...

Storm Shadow killed so many with the smaller sword from his accessories. Destro's gun that would fit in the backpack was very cool for being one of the first figs as well.

Liked how Cobra Commander's pistol would snap in to the back of where the pegs were, it made him sneaky in my mind for some reason :lol

Yea that was the coolest thing about Outback, and Chuckels had and shoulder holster that was done the same way... I loved those details

When I was a kid, that figure was my solo rapid reaction force. :lol

Though I switched his pants out. Gave his lower half to Tunnel Rat (the flashlight made more sense there and the gray cammo matched perfectly) and gave Outback Tigers from a broken Falcon figure I had.

 With the backpack on the figure, the straps were simulated perfectly.

 I had lost that piece... Wow, that really takes me back. I wasn't able to use the pack after I had lost the web gear, or at least I didn't want to. I only remembered not being able to use the pack, not the absence of the straps.... It's crazy when you remember little things like that from so many years ago.... he was an 87', right? 22 years ago.... Anyway, sorry for the confusion. :lol Still, a bad ass figure.

I don't think it is Zartan. The face paint outline isn't right, and that surely looks like hair and wrinkles on his face.

Still. . .hoping this comes sooner rather than later:

Can't say I'll swing for all of them but if that Flint/Zartan dio comes out lookin good I'll definitely grab it. Love good vs. evil struggle they've going on with it.
