everybody says LOTR didn't sell and that is why it tanked. but i seem to remember the first 3 figures sold out in a snap of the fingers. it was only after they slowed the line down to a crawl and started releasing PF's, Dio's, and LSB's that people lost interest. i can see the same happening here. especially if they are gonna start dividing resources on PF's and Dio's. i want figures. gi joes are action figures last i looked.

Yep, Joes are toys, first and foremost. I'm not sure that I like the parallel you're making here! I didn't realize that's what happened with LOTR... It'd be a real shame if the "main characters" didn't get made in this Joe line. I could live without guys like Dusty or Footloose but the line would definitely feel incomplete if it got cancelled before Destro, the Baroness, Scarlett, Flint, Shipwreck, Roadblock and Gung Ho (to name but a few).

I'm not entirely sure that PFs and Dios are the way to go with this line. It's not a movie or comic book property - they're action figures!

On one hand, I don't really want to be spending $100+ a month on these, but it'd be nice to see a new figures a LITTLE more often...

I think a bi-monthly schedule would also work. Of course, that would probably take the development team away from PFs and dios. But isn't that what this line needs anyway? :lol

Bi monthly would be awesome, 6 figs a year would be great and the perfect amount IMO. That would mean in the three years would have most of the core characters made, and wouldnt and have to worry about another repeat of LOTR.

The concept of momentum with their licenses/lines is clearly lost on Sideshow. They nearly killed their INDY license and arguably did kill LOTR 1:6 because of that. They've got something special here with their JOE figures, so it'd be a real shame to punt it away by piddly-farting around.

Pick up the pace!

Good Post!

And I do think that adding PF and dios will hurt this line. Stick with the Action Figures (12"ers) and plan on doing ALL the Joes and Cobras you can... NOT just the main characters!

As far as spook... most of the add on stuff will be the junk from other companies.. I don't expext any Joes during spook, but would be happily surprised if it did happen.

Who cares about GI JOE, there is a Vampire Stitch to order!!!!!

MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED THANK YOU SS....

I understand that they only have so many resources and development must go to many different line. I can also understand Sideshow wanting to make PF's on GI Joe to sell to GI Joe fans who don't do 1/6th. But dios seem like a horrible idea and Sideshow REALLY needs to up the release to six a year and not have half of those releases be repaints.

As far as LoTR goes, I think Sideshow's insanely slow release schedule and waning interest because the movies weren't out anymore doomed that 1/6th line. Sideshow/WETA already had made polystone statues/busts, so Sideshow continued that. With LoTR and Indiana Jones, there aren't alot of characters to choose from so Sideshow wanted to spread them out, but the problem is that interest starts fading.

Sometimes, Sideshow's development and business model confuses the hell out of me. You would think that they would learn from their previous 1/6th failures to not make the same mistake with GI Joe. Also, man, they distribule ALOT of crap that will just end up on the GC list.

But how many GI Joe fans DON'T do either 12" or 3 3/4"??? People are fans because of the toys, first and foremost. I don't think it's at all the same situation as movie properties, like SW, Aliens, Predators and Disney. I may be wrong, but I suspect not...

I'm starting to think that even PFs are pushing it.

Well, you missed the Hulkbuster Ex and the SSE Creature dio.

Just wait listed the HBIM, I'm reading the thread now and it seems that it's a pretty low ES since it sold out quickly, my hunch is that there will be many that can't afford it so I think I'll get my chance... It's sort of like Abom in a way.

Whoo hoo, Hot Toys Michael Jackson just took another figure slot...only two 12" figure slots remain for Spooktacular.

If we don't get a new Joe announcement soon...:banghead

I guess the one saving grace is that there are two seperate sections for 12" figures. The first section features both Boiler Zombies and the Michael Jackson Thriller figure. The common thread is that Sideshow is only distributing these figures, not developing them.

Hopefully the second section (and remaining two figure announcements) are for Sideshow produced figures...

Michael Jackson?

That's a lame "surprise". I was expecting something new, not "hey we're carrying this too". Lame...
