A page behind, damn work is busy today, but the IDW paper backs are amazing and only $13 on amazon. I have the first 5. They even cleaned up the color without making any changes. Love love them.
Gonna have to consider buying the trades. I had the original series somewhere, but I cannot find them!
I like the trades. They allow me to enjoy the Marvel run again without having to bust out the back issues, white gloves and tweezers.
I went through those issues so many times...
Never could figure out who did the cover for that issue. The UPC square covers up the artist's sig and he's not credited inside. It looks like Zeck, but it's not listed as his work on his site. It skips from 26 to 28.
Definitely Zeck's style. He was always good for dramatically angled covers. I loved his Captain America work.
who cares if spirit was black, white or orange...he's a cool character
screw political correctness!!
Sideshow's appropriately updated look for Gung Ho!:
Yeah, his art really personified the "Marvel way" with the perspectives he chose. My favorite cover is Punisher #1.
--First issue I ever bought. Still have it but christ it is tore up. So awesome!
Zeck was always one of my favorite comic artists--up there with 80s John Byrne, Alan Davis, George Perez, and Art Adams. I have a poster of the Cap Annual number 8 that I had on my wall as a kid. His Punisher mini-series covers were amazing.Never really put that together but you're right on.
My fave:

Michael Golden. He also did the covers for issues 23, 29, 36, 116-118 and the first two yearbooks. A great artist.
