People are complaining? The first two episodes so far have been far better than the entirety of last season. It just dragged on and on with barely anything happening, and only got interesting in the last couple of episodes.
Seasons 1 and 2 = awesome
Season 3 = meh
Season 4 = so far awesome

I'm loving it so far. I'm very curious how they will resolve the Peter issue. I'll go along with the changes like Broyles being alive, etc, for now to see where it goes.
And I actually like some of the stand alone episodes. Sometimes the mythology stuff really drags the pacing down, IMO (I personally hated the larger myth stuff in X-Files and loved the stand alone eps best). I really liked the episode (season 2?) where Peter is on his own with the Raising Hope mom, just investigating strange phenomena. The larger overall season arc is great if it's paced well, and if it doesn't dominate too much. I think Buffy and Angel did it right.
