Teaser Poster

interesting poster, I was thinking it was going to be of the enterprise when I heard there was a teaser out. But I like how they got the Trek symbol into the poster with the outline of the damage. Atleast this is better than the superman poster.

Who is that supposed to be standing on top of the rubble?

Agree with that.

I assumed it was Kirk at first glance but read somewhere else that it's the Cumbervillain.

If it had been up to me Kirk would have been assigned to the Farragut and served the time between the ST1 and ST2 EARNING the respect he eventually holds.

As DPrime says, he doesn't need to be Captain just yet. That could have durring the second or third film.

Yeah, I was still thinking of this this morning...

They could have even given the rank of Lieutenant Commander, and given him command of a smaller vessel. LCdrs command minor warships and submarines, after all. Heck, even JFK commanded a torpedo boat as a USN Lieutenant. Kirk didn't need all four pips right away.

I think that's exactly why they're terrible. They look like fan posters.

It's all over photoshopped nonsense. And it's boring.

So true.

But it reflects well on the state of Hollywood movies today. Lots of superficial special effects, but no substance, no style... for the most part - JJ's Star Trek films are an exception, of course!

For that matter, there are a lot of exceptions... but a lot of crap, too.

Anyway, I don't mind this poster, but it's nothing special, that's for sure.

Huh? Aren't those Spock's ears? Or some other Vulcan/Romulan, I suppose...

Huh. I only just copped that the hole in the building is in the shape of the starfleet logo. That is the only thing remotely Star Trek about that poster.

If it's Gary Mitchell that would explain the title. "Into Darkness" could be a reference to the edge of the galaxy where they encountered the Great Barrier. It would be pretty dark out there.

Maybe this is a better title then "The Wrath Of FarrahKhan"...LOL

Am I alone in thinking the villain's outfit has "Section 31" written all over it? The all-black leather, the squared off shoulders - it's totally the same design aesthetic we saw on DS9 and Enterprise when an agent of Section 31 was on the scene. I think that bodes well for the film, as the idea of a shadowy, top-secret intelligence/defense agency that exists in the heart of the Federation and that is above accountability seems like it is ripe for dramatic conflict. I loved that this agency was introduced in DS9, as it was in keeping with the darker tone of that show, but I felt that the idea wasn't explored to it's fullest potential, due to the show's run coming to a close at the end of season 7. It's great that they revisited the idea on Enterprise, but again, that show was cut short before they could do much with Section 31. I'm hoping Section 31 is rearing it's ugly head again in the time of Kirk and company!

If that is the case, perhaps the best way to ID the villain is to consider which TOS-era character is most likely to be a secret agent for the dark side of the Federation?

How likely is it that Section 31 exists in this new timeline? We've already seen the dramatic butterfly effect over the course of ~25 years. Jump forward another 100-120 years and TNG era wouldn't even be recognizable.
