In a Bane mask
Star Trek 3: The Return of Shinzon!
In a Bane mask
If he is, I am mad....Khan aint no white dude
Yes, mostly for me. Partly that Ricardo Montalban did such a great job creating this character, both in the 60's and 80's that its almost sacrilegious for another person to play the character.
That, and while this movie universe is a alternative reality, Cumberbatch is supposed to be Ricardo Montalban - same person, different timelines, so it bugs the **** out of me that Khan is now a white dude from Britian, when Khan was a dude born in Mexico (actor at least).
Besides, Klingons are supposed to have alien forehead ridges but look completely different in TOS, the reason for this is they've genetically engineered themselves with Augment DNA.
All that matters for me is the writing and performance, if Cumberbatch can deliver (which he seems to do in the trailers) and the story rocks, then I'll be happy.
Your pic isn't showing up for me, Joachim - is that Khan's second in command guy?
Aye, that be him.
I think Cumberbatch looks more like he could be Joachim then Khan.
Khan said he would "avenge him" in TWOK so, flip that **** around in the alternate timeline.
Admittedly I'm not really familiar with much of Trek outside the movies and most of the TV shows. Is Kahn considered to be Kirk's Joker or Moriarty? IS Kahn Kirk's ultimate nemesis? That would be the only reason I could think of for them to use Kahn in this rebooted timeline--if they are destined to always battle each other, no matter what the alternate reality may be
That could be interesting. Was he genetically engineered aswell, I can't recall.
Yep, he was on the SS Botany Bay and in TOS episode of Space Seed he had dark brown hair so, it works.
My personal opinion is that I quite happy if they go with Khan. As much I loved the reboot, Nero was forgettable (in terms of creating a new villain). Agreed there is a huge Star Trek universe, but Khan is just so awesome and I'd love to see another take on him.
I wonder how they'd make it personal between Kirk and whoever it would be of either Khan or Joachim - since the events of Space Seed and TWoK presumably don't play out like that in this alternate reality.
Maybe then we see why Cumberbatch takes revenge on Klingons and then later creates a evil plot against the Federation, first by stealing Reliant or Excelsior.
I wouldn't have the Reliant again. While I can conceive that that ship would exist at this point, just as the Enterprise does, it'd be a bit too coincidental perhaps that it would be stolen by khan or joachim in this reality aswell.
