Well said.

What these Abrhamites fail to realize is the Insult these movies are to a franchise that was started by a man who stepped outside the box to try and tell stories that were thought provoking and dealt with social and political issues. The original Pilot of Star Trek was branded "Too Cerebral" by the Networks. So basically the Networks back in the sixties thought Americans were too stupid to understand a TV show.

Now JJ and his writers have effectively sucked all that was good about Trek out of Trek and given us another mindless action Romp, while at the same time laughing at the masses that have been declared too stupid to understand Star Trek.

So I guess we want the future to be full of War Mongering Races dedicated to blowing **** up for no good reason, rather than the betterment of mankind itself?

:dunno

Very well said...Things have changed...The Times are a changin

Funny then how 'The Motion Picture', easily the most thought provoking and cerebral of the Trek movies is generally considered by Trek fans as one of the worst of the original crew movies.

Hehe, just wanted to share:

You do know that you fans aren't the only ones seeing these movies, right?

God, I hope you do.

And I can tell you, none of them care about who a certain character is, or why they made a creative choice to do this or that.

Good God. If I hear one more whiny *****fest about how Abhrams is ****ing up Star Trek, I'm gonna punch a Tribble! Get over it. There are plenty of old school ST fans who are enjoying the new movies. Some if you will never be happy and just need to go back to sitting on your porch in your dickie highwaters, yelling at kids to get off your lawn. The rest of us are moving on and grateful that JJ is at the helm and not Michael Bay :)

I ****ing loved it, yeah story was a little muddled, but Jesus Christ it was spectacular. Watched it in IMAX 3d and spent half the time with my jaw on the ground. Anyone who doesn't like this should give up watching movies...

..,but I can't believe that ridiculous spoiler I posted a few weeks back was actually true!

Bringing the Trible back to life with Khans blood to save Kirk!

And I've never understood why. It's one of my favorites.

Same here, I've never understood why it gets such a bad rap.

Part of the poor reception at the time of the theatrical release was due to people expecting another 'Star Wars', which is funny now that people are complaining that Trek has become too similar to 'Star Wars'.

This actually portends good news for EPISODE VII, which has a decent writer (Michael Arndt). Abrams definitely has the directing chops.

Agreed. As a Star Wars fan, I had never seen any Star Trek episodes or movies up until Abrams' 2009 movie. I have been impressed by both Abrams Star Trek movies, so much so that I have now gone back and started watching the original series and movies. I must say I am enjoying what I'm seeing so far.

I have high hopes for Star Wars: Episode VII with Abrams at the helm.

Yeah but you know what? Some fans are ****ing hard to please. Look at how the SW prequels were butchered to death by whiny little drama queens.. and they still do today. With Episode VII-IX some SW fans are gonna whine about them just like some Star Trek fans do with the new Star Trek movies. For the same reasons: "it's dumbed down, too much CGI, bla bla bla"... Ugh.. :gah: :lol

I'm actually glad that those close-minded fans are miserable and pissed off, they deserve it for whining so much.

:hi5:

Pretty sure you've quoted one such fan. :lol

And I side with him on the subject.

I spent quite a bit of time watching this thinking... **** we are going to get a Star Wars movie of this quality...!

You are quite right mix this with a great writer and we could at last get something amazing..

Incidentally, the Man of Steel trailer was in 3D before my screening, not to convinced the 3d looked too good. Was the screening of MOS you saw in 3D Irish? The one I saw was in 2D so I'm curious as to how this conversion looks.
