Soon I will find out if ST2 is better than IM3...I'm 99% sure it will be

It won't be. You'll be horribly disappointed.

(Also, what is this comparing a superhero flick to a space travel flick? :lol...doesn't make any sense)

Honestly, the only people that will have real issue with this film are those diehard trekkie types that "live' Star Trek more than enjoy it for what it is: A SCIENCE FICTION MOVIE

From what I'm reading its pushing more towards Science-Fantasy than Science Fiction. Hence the Star Wars comparisons.

I'm starting to agree with what Deckard was saying a few pages back about hipster fans. New people coming in and telling Trekkies how they should feel about the franchise they've been following for up to, what, 30, 40 years.

For some reason or another I dont think so...but hey we'll see...I love ST...I actuslly liked all the films...some more than others but I liked them all...flaws and all

Does this one have the annoying *** light flashes in almost every damn frame like the first one?

I never got into the whole Star Trek thing growing up. I gave the old movies a try...and passed on the tv shows. I gave the 2009 Star Trek a viewing and I really liked it. Looking forward to this one...

Sigh. Well I liked both Into Darkness AND Iron Man 3. I'm glad I live in my world where I can enjoy these things, whatever it takes to get me there that some people are lacking. :D

I like to talk about and discuss the movies, but at the end of the day I'm willing to just go with a movie on a lot of things and not stress the details. As long as it keeps me entertained and is not totally brain dead in it's writing or execution. As I said earlier in my review, some of the TWOK homages were too on the nose for me, but the other 98% of the movie was great.

Someone else said you should just think of this as the "Ultimate" version of Star Trek (ala the Marvel line) and I actually think put in that perspective it really works. It's always going to be hard to replicate (if not impossible) the depth of those old characters in the space of a couple of movies. But, taken for what they are, I think they are very successful.

I am still hoping for a new Trek series some day, though. :)
