Picked up this Hush Styled Bats at Big Lots this past weekend on sale for $16. Always kinda wanted one of these, but didn't like the classic 80s deco with the pouch belt. This, however was pretty much what I had been waiting for. They had Superman, WW, and Flash as well.

Thanks for the heads up. He looks great. I'll have to check out my Big Lots for one. Were the Superman, WW, Flash at Big Lots, the Justice League or Comic versions?

Picked up a Tactical Bats.

It'd be rude not too.

For the price: absolutely! :)

I finally started in on my Cavill Superman. I figured since I got the rest of the Justice League earlier in the week (well I've still gotta find Aquaman) I'd better get stuck into one of these or I'll never finish them all.

Here he is after finishing off the blue of the suit. One black shoe polish wash followed by a light scrub, a navy blue acrylic wash, another shoe polish wash with scrub (with a little extra attention to the muscle detailing) and a final navy blue acrylic wash. Finished off with two extremely light coats of Tamiya matt clear. Really happy and it's under two hours of work.

And one pic showing the various stages of progress:

I've since done the gold and red for the S shield and belt so on the weekend I guess I might be teaching myself how to paint head sculpts. :D

One more pic for now. Before/after - pic on the left is from yesterday afternoon before the shield, belt and skin were done and the one on the right is the current progress. Much better! It's getting there!

This also highlights the massive difference lighting makes to the blue of the suit. I wanted to try and replicate how it appears in the movie as the materials they used reacted to light so differently. Pretty happy with the result.

Now comes the tricky part: eyebrows, hair and then eyes. Never really done that before so I hope I don't mess it up royally!

Done for now. I'll leave the eyes until I'm confident I won't completely ruin them. :D I'll also track down some material for a better cape.

In the meantime, here he is hanging out with the rest of the Jakks Pacific customs I've done:

I think The Flash will be up next!

I love these Jakks Pacific figures and the customizing process.

fiddly but i was quite pleased with the results :)

Funny you mention it, but I was considering exactly that. I saw ones like that on eBay. I just don't think my skill level is anywhere near up there so I'd make a meal out of it but the eyes definitely need work to sell the rest of the look.

Cheers for that though. The video will come in handy and I'll probably grab a set to give it a go.

Here's where I got up to tonight. Still got to do a light gloss red on some of the chest panels, top of the helmet and a few select arm and leg panels but he's definitely heading in the right direction!

Anyways, I'm calling it a day. At least it's been productive!

And I'm done. I took a little liberty with the colour of the chest plate and top of the helmet. It stands out a touch too much on the costume for my liking so instead of just doing a gloss red coating I painted it with a crimson acrylic and then sprayed two light coats of metallic red paint. It achieves the same level of gloss as the actual costume but is a touch deeper in tone.

Happy with how it turned out, especially considering how fiddly the various shades of red, different panels of gloss, semi gloss and flat and naturally the weathering and cabling & rivets.

Done with Cyborg. A real (technical) challenge, but a lot of fun!

Wow some amazing customs in this thread. Turning $20 figures into something altogether more impressive. :clap
Are they all in 1/4 scale?
