Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

TC Tux still in stock at BBTS: https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TCY10044&mode=retail

I'm also on the list for BBKill's round two, but I haven't seen anything mentioned about it in a long time and I haven't heard from him in email with any updates. I'll take no news as good news. ;)

Not sure yet what I'll do for the bow tie - I may modify the Toys City if I think I can do it without wrecking it.

Thanks for keeping an eye out for the shirt. If you ever see a realistic-looking Martini glass I'd also love a heads up. ;)

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I pulled the trigger on a DID Chicago Gangster Hat as it's the closest I've seen to a real Trilby design. It'll need a bit of modding, but I've got my fingers crossed that it's going to be as simple as I imagine. Unfortunately none of the photos of it clearly show how it's put together.

A lot of people mix up the Trilby with a Fedora - thankfully this hat has a smaller brim than a typical Fedora, which is why it caught my eye.

The overcoat I'll grab later in the week as part of a set, which breaks down to a decent per-item price. I should be able to use most of the parts for other figures at some point, otherwise it would be a bit spendy for the coat alone. It's not accurate, but it's the nicest overcoat I've found.

Pixelpiper,

Where did you find that TTL Overcoat set? I've been looking for the black set for a while. Thanks.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Hey Pix, please let me know what color the turtleneck sweater is, and if its fairly large or tight. I was looking at that set but its was too pricey just for the t-neck... but I'm still really curious as it has one of the best t-necks I've seen.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Looks like there's another really nice overcoat option coming in October 2014 from the Alfred character in the new Hot Toys Batman armory sets. I'm certain we're going to see a lot of parts from these sets being sold separately on eBay, including the coat and suits - they're like a chop-shop's wet dream, so many items.

Hey Pix, please let me know what color the turtleneck sweater is,

I just checked another auction with more details and it states the sweater is "blue-grey" - however, the one that comes with the dark blue coat appears to be black in photos (you can tell it's much darker than the dark blue of the coat).

I'll still try to get some clear photos of it for you when it arrives.

Thanks, yeah I need in-hand confirmation. The blue-gray or black has been an issue. I even emailed ebay sellers and BBTS for help but it got more confusing.

I'm definitely looking forward to them parting out the Armory set. 2 good suits, nice ties, and an excellent overcoat.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Just finished watching all the Bond films in a row and I thought that my sideshow Dr. No bond could use a revamp. I repainted the sculpt, repainted a dragon ppk, put him on a narrow shoulder body, and got him the Toys City Tux. I need to paint his shoes black, give him a pocket square, and put some vodka in his glass. I think it turned out well though the tux is a bit tight so I couldnt do the From Russia with Love pose too well.

Excellent work! Great repaint. ;) I'm working on a similar revamp myself.

Great repaint.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Great work ...although I think the narrow body is too slim for Connery.

It's the photographs, as I've got my TC Tux on the same body and it looks a lot bigger in person. Then again, I'm using the Maximus head which is scaled eel for this body, I don't know the size of the Sideshow version.

On a side note, I scored a few martini glasses today - I'll post details/pics when I have them in hand and verify their scale precisely.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

This was my entry for the 2013 SSF Winter Holiday Custom-Kitbash Challenge, George Lazenby in “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.” This figure has been 10-plus years in the making. The outfit was custom made for me by Project Are and I supplied them with women's tights in the correct color of Bond's ski outfit in the movie. A plush doll of Willy Wonka gave up its life for the goggles, which I liberated with a Dremel grinding tool with the straps printed out on photo paper and trimmed. The hat is Ken's with a pom-pom added to the tip. I found the skis loose at a toy show, which I believe are from "The Corps" or maybe even Soldiers of the World. The boots, bindings and the decals for those and the skis have been painstakingly reproduced by me, though it's a pity that the snow weathering obscured much of it. The poles are Hasbro.

I know that what follows is from the novel and not the movie, but it captures the spirit of the ski chase sequence when James Bond escapes from Blofeld’s mountaintop lair in Switzerland, Piz Gloria on Christmas Eve.

Excerpts from Chapter 16, “Downhill Only,” On Her Majesty’s Secret Service by Ian Fleming.

“The three-quarter moon burned down with an almost dazzling fire and the snow crystals scintillated back at it like a carpet of diamond dust… Bond didn't pause. He went straight for it and over the edge… The first vertical drop had a spine-chilling bliss to it. Bond got down into his old Arlberg crouch, his hands forward of his boots, and just let himself go. His skis were an ugly six inches apart… But this was no time for style, even if he had been capable of it! Above all he must stay upright!

Bond's speed was now frightening… Danger was momentarily forgotten in the joy of speed, technique, and mastery of the snow. Bond straightened up and almost dived into his next turn, this time to the left, leaving a broad S on the virgin mountain behind him…

There was a slight upward slope short of the big turn. Bond took it at speed, felt his skis leave the ground at the crest of it, jabbed into the snow with his left stick as an extra lever and threw his skis and his right shoulder and hips round to the left. He landed in a spray of snow, at a dead halt. He was delighted with himself! A Sprung-Christiana is a showy and not an easy turn at speed… “
