Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

The one on the left looks totally off, the eyes are too dead, the chin not right and look at that crooked maw. ;)

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Interesting, however, it is worth bearing in mind that, and I've often reiterated this, from pic to pic, even Daniel Craig doesn't look like Daniel Craig:

Sculptors can arm themselves with as much DC reference as they like, but, no one pic truly captures him.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Pretty sure that second picture has a distorted aspect ratio. And the last one looks like it was take years before the others. They're all great sculpts though - very realistic. ;)

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Here are my two Bond Detolf shelfs in progress. As mentioned before, I'm going to change the body on the Connery figure as the TTM21 is just too bulk in the arms for the Toys City suit. I have to modify the tie, add a pocket square and finish out the accessories for the room. Dong a pleated leatherette background soon, already have all kids of liquor bottles and glasses, want to add a wooden buffet to hold them. Will get a hat and overcoat, either to sit on chair or on a coat rack. Need to cut down that rabbit skin a bit. Already have PPK. Might like to grab a cigarette case.

On the bottom is the street scene for my Craig Bond - waiting on BBKill round 2 and then paint. Have probably found the black suit I'll use and need to make a custom un-tied bow tie. Have multiple of required P99 and H&K guns. Probably will add a weapons case and of course the floor will be cobble stone (made of clay).

That's certainly true, but, it does illustrate that photos of DC himself vary as much as any of the current sculpts do.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I like the wooden roll-up door background. Light colored wood was very Connery.

That's my bamboo grass wall-cloth. ;) It will be very visible in the room on that wall, but the background behind Connery will be square leather-like panels similar to the ones behind the bed in Bond's room in Dr. No's lair.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Precisely that background.

It's a Christmas Miracle! Mr. Bond has a new body that just arrived today from the far East. He'll be in his best attire tomorrow for sure.

Added some copper trim to the background images as well - in a few weeks the leather will be done.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Speaking of Christmas Miracles...

A big Merry Xmas to the Bond fans, big and small, in this thread!

May it be a Ho-Ho-7 Holiday for all!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Man, all you guys were so right about the Toyscity Tuxedo -- absolutely sharp as a knife!!!

Here's a compare of the...
original Sideshow Dr. No Bond in tux VS. new TCT Tux on same figure...

Forgot the pocket square.

NOTE: on this particular bash I'm using the Mens Hommes TUXEDO SHIRT and not the TCT shirt.

You know, the more I look at your pics, the more I feel like finally doing a Connery Bond...
It's really amazing how good that looks.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

My only complaint about the suit is that it's either not fitted to any specific body or that we simply don't know exactly what body it's fitted to.

I've transplanted mine over to a knockoff Narrow Shoulder and the arms are much better than on the HT TTM21, but it's obvious the suit is "off the rack" and doesn't fit quite as well as it should, especially around the shoulders.

The biggest issue with this suit is that the collar does not lie close to flat around the back - it's very high and upright - that's not correct for any suit, and makes it very difficult to futz the shirt collar above the suit collar. My other complaint is that there's no built-in closure on the jacket, and if you want to keep it open, the button is on the wrong side, requiring a little repair work to move to the other side. But overall it's superbly made, IMO. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Toys City suit - which I may do for another bash soon.

I'm going to do a complete undress of my bash and use double-sided tape to hold the shirt closer to the body so it's less puffy (using the shirt included with the suit).

Once you start playing around with real Hot Toys bodies and these knock-offs at the same time, you really begin to appreciate the high quality of the Hot Toys originals. I'm glad I bought this latest knock-off for under $19 shipped, because frankly it's not 1/3 as good as the Hot Toys at $60. I'll never pay more than $20 for one of these in the future. I'd love to have grabbed a HT Coulson body (essentially a narrow shoulder), but I just can't find one for reasonable $$.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I just received my Coulson body yesterday. Paid $34 after losing many, many auctions.

Tough to get a little 1/6 suit to lay like a real suit. Back collars are always a problem, never seen one lay correctly yet. But taping the shirt will definitely help. I generally pull the shirt down in front and back and run the tape under the crotch to both sides for a hold. I also find the space between the chest and shoulder joints usually makes odd "dents" in my suits and I have to lightly stuff that area with a little tissue.

For those who may not be familiar with the TCT tux: I had to stitch the jacket closed on my tux, there is no snap. Also, for those who see my pics, that is NOT the shirt that comes with the Toys City tux. Mine is a Mens Hommes tux shirt, which I think is better scaled and fitted, though its made of a strange, almost vinyl material. To me, the Toys City tux shirt has an oversized collar with a wide part where the bowtie goes.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Astute observations and great tips.

:lecture And that's the truth. But it does have a pleated front which is what Connery had on in Dr. No - even if the pleats are a little wide on this version.

I've trimmed down the rabbit rug for this Connery scene, put up a few copper strip accents (Dr. No's lair had a lot of copper) so the next step is that quilted leather backdrop. I've located the hat I want to mod, a cigarette case, as well as an overcoat on eBay, however I haven't bought any of them yet. And just yesterday I've found a reference photo for an interesting mid-century modern coat rack/tree that I'd like to make in 1/6 scale.

I know it doesn't show in my pics but the Hommes tux shirt is also pleated in the front, narrower pleats actually. If you can find one loose -- I got mine from TA -- I recommend it.

Although the hat may be a little large, I always thought the Churchill hat would work for the hat/coat you are looking to do. At least I think it would if its not too oversized for Churchill's large head. I was actually thinking of picking one up for my Red Grant figure.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Damn, that shirt does look fine. I'll keep an eye out for it - I know the whole set is quite pricy compared to the other suits on the market, so I expect the shirt alone won't be super cheap.

Yeah it works well with the TCT tux jacket and pants. I have to admit, when I first received it, I was a bit taken aback by the strange material (silky/satin/vinyl). But once its on your figure you never notice again. And the collar is more like a regular shirt collar which you need if you use the very slim bowtie that came with the Sideshow Dr. No Bond or if you make your own.

I'll keep a look out for ya on the shirt.

I have to find another TCT tux set so I can bleach it into the Skyfall tux (the original plan for the tux until I put it on Connery). I'm pretty good with dying and bleaching but this one has me a bit nervous. Hate to wreck a great tux if it doesn't work. Anyway, I have the Coulson body now, and hopefully the 2nd run bbkill head if it ever comes... If not, I'm eyeballing the inigou sculpt.
