Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Here's my latest WIP Casino Royale Bond:

Recipe:
-Headsculpt by Inigou (painted by Indiana)
-TTL body
-Mattel James Bond Ken doll tux (temporary)
-Hot Toys Agent Coulson shirt
-Toys City bow tie (temporary)
-Loading Toys Walther P99 with silencer

Looks great too,

Whatever our personal preferences may be, each figure deserves to be judged on its own merits and we're definitely seeing quality work emerging no matter which sculpt happens to have been used.

:goodpost:

Did a complete repaint of my Bond's head (wasn’t 100% happy with the first paint job). Also, picked up a decent watch for him on eBay. Not entirely sure what figure the watch is originally from, but the seller said it’s from a BBI fig.

Absolutely fantastic!
Congrats.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Updated mine recently.
When I first painted this, I wanted to make sure his eyes would be very light...would pop out just like my reference pics.
A very distinguised feature of Craig of course is his very light blue eyes.
As happy I was with the paintjob, the eyes were too dark...and it was nagging at me.
The eyes are very important to bring out likeness.

So last night, I finally decided to tackle it again.
At one point, I thought it was messed up. I tried to use Decals, but those are a ******!!!
When I applied the decal setting solution, it moved the decals off the eyes again and eventually, after moving it all around,
it wiped the white paint off the eyes completely.
So I thought it was pretty much screwed!
Fortunately, with some persistance...took a deep breath, and started painting it carefully.
It paid off. Big big difference!!!
Very happy with the results. :yess:

Thank you Fusion. :)

@ Chili...excellent futzing, amazing skyfall figure.

@mattman...much better re-paint on your skyfall man. The first one was a little too shiny, but your repaint looks spot on.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Inigou Daniel Craig sculpt, untouched.

The frontal shot is unfortunately out of focus - I'll try to grab a better one soon. Unfortunately I was fighting a little bit with natural light plus posing space and shooting angle. I should have set up a tripod so I could remote release at slower shutter speeds, so excuse the fact that none of the other ones are tack-sharp either - but they'll do for now.

In the "from below" shots you can see that little extra nugget of resin under the hair I was talking about earlier. Casting issue.

Excellent job on your Bonds guys! They look GREAT!

Ok, I think I'm finally done messing with mine. Decided to dye my DID tux. Pretty happy with how it turned out.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

EXCELLENT! I'm so jealous of all these excellent Craigs. I really have to get on with building mine... but I have a head that needs painting and I got to get a tux.

So Matt, did you do the standard bleach-and-dye technique? Is it really simple. Seems like evryone's comes out quite nice and even.

I did the good ol' bleach and dye technique. I did have a bit of trial and error, though. When I first bleached it, the jacket and pants came out a dark grayish brown color, which wasn't ideal for dyeing it, since my first attempt with the dye turned everything pretty much black again. Then I bleached it a second time for a longer amount of time, maybe ten minutes or so (this time, I actually just dropped the clothes in the bleach bottle and shook it up), and it came out a little lighter. Mixed almost a whole packet of royal blue RIT dye in a tupperware bucket filled with hot water, stirred the clothes around for about another ten minutes, rinsed it, dried it with a blow dryer, and got the result I was looking for.

But yeah, no problem getting the color nice and even, just some difficulty getting the color right.

Thanks for the compliment and great job updating your Bond.
It was already great but the updates took it to another level.
The re-colored Tux looks sweet man! Very impressive Bond!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Just finished another 3 Bbkill comission paintups. I'll put the glasses on and the ear piece in later and take pics

Casting flaw aside, that sculpt looks fantastic from all angles. BB's to me looks pinched and angular and only works from some angles. If money were no object, I'd buy the Inigou sculpt and get the best paint job money could buy.

Great work there, I'd be too nervous to do anything like that to a tux of mine.
