Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I think many people just feel partial to bbkill's cause its the latest, and one of the best Bond movies.

I felt Skyfall was arguably the weakest of the three movies and I'm changing the hair on the BBKill sculpt to be more Casino Royale, so for me that line of thought doesn't hold true.

I'm sugsting not only that most people would pick the BBKill sculpt, but that shown only one at a time with no other info offered, most people would recognize BBKill's as Craig and many (maybe not most) people would not recognize the Inigou as Craig.

I'm definitely going to throw up some profile shots when I have the chance. Busy doing some wiring and HVAC work for a friend today. Yeah, jack of all trades.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Sorry guys but Inigou's sculpt had very little detail in the sculpt and skin texture. While BBKill's might have too much the likeness is there on both. Hell even the real Daniel looks very different from picture to picture. Tough call to which sculpt is better. To each his own but there will be a more definitive version released soon

To weigh in (you all knew I would ;) ) This echos my sentiments. Specifically about how Daniel himself looks different from picture to picture. The truth is both are killer sculpts both have pluses and minuses but to me the BBKill is what I see Craig in, that being said there is room for improvement all across the board.

There's probably better pics to show but I had these saved. Just saying like Ray said each captures him yet look different like the man himself.

Maybe one day we'll have one like this....

That applies to everyone, but there are probably more images of Craig and other celebrities online than there are of you or me. ;) And of course those people are painted up differently for different photo and film shoots whereas most guys aren't wearing any makeup for photos.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

all true but there are some specific wild card factors as to why Craig looks different sometimes and what fuels the subjectivity

1) his age: he was around 34 when he worked on casino royale and around 43 when he worked on Skyfall, that's kind of a crucial age in men when they start to show signs of aging. also it's a proven fact that noses and ears do not stop growing with age, Daniel has huge versions of each of those as it is.

2) his hair color: hair is actually translucent. What gives it it's pigment is a hormone that the follicle cell produces, which is why when hair turns gray it's actually clear but appears gray due to the volume and how light hits it. People with a very light blonde hair color, and hair that is very fine have in effect very translucent hair and it appears tinted with warm tone due to the pigment the cells produce which is not as strong as people with dark hair. Anyways what this means is that the sun or artificial light will make his hair appear almost an entirely different color depending on how it's lighting him and can make the hair appear anywhere in the range of brown to almost white. Also depending on how tanned he is it will also affect his hair and specifically his eyebrows. For example he's rather pale in Skyfall making his eyebrows almost invisible in some scenes. If you took the eyebrows off of almost anyone they all of a sudden look drastically different because eyes are one of the most important distinguishing features on the human face.

His hair is so fine and it's cropped so short in skyfall that he looks overall very non-contrasted which brings attention to the more distinguishing features on his face like his nose, big ears and piercing blue eyes. I'm not sure how much time Daniel has with his hair as I think it will thin on him fast. Then his reign of being the only James Bond to not wear a hair piece of some sort so far will come to an end. Not sure why there are so many James Balds... must be all the testosterone!

3)His body: In CR he was carrying a significant amount of muscle and in skyfall he was super lean, this will definitely affect his face as well.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

All true, except his age, which I just looked up. He's 46 now, so maybe 43/44 for Skyfall as you said , but around 38 or 37 when he did Casino :)

But the the issues in these sculpts are outside of the excellent points you've made. Bone structure is constant barring any trauma, and that's the principal underlying issue with both sculpts and why BBKill's looks more like Craig, at any age and from any movie, than does the Inigou example.

I love both sculpts, I wouldn't have bought them otherwise. I'm happy at the progress of my changes to the BBKill and with some additional work on the hair it will be even better for my CR custom. Not sure I can mod the Inigou to work as well.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I agree that the bone structure of the BBKill seems more accurate to me as well.

If you do any mods I'd love to see the hair modded, that was my biggest issue with the inigou sculpt.

Sometimes I wonder if I would have sprung for it if it were different.

I'm a huge Inigou fan, no discrimination on my end and the only reason why I didn't buy his Craig was due to my extra discerning when-it-comes-to-Craig nature and my extra gigantic-too-big-for-my-tiny-apartment collection.

I thought about that actually but I figured they filmed at least to years before both films hit the theaters so I factored that in to the age guesstimation as to the age he appeared on camera!

Hard to believe he's closer to 50 now! His window is closing. How time flies.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I just read the other day that he apparently thinks Edward Pattison should be the next Bond. I'm going to have to go find that in context.

My Inigou Craig has some casting issues as well - a visible seam along the back of the neck/head and a glob of resin under the front overhung part of the hair. This last one I know is an issue because that glob shape has no sculpted details on it. I'm not sure I have any tools for sculpting fine details like hair in permanent material, I'll have to check. I was planning on doing the minor sideburn work on the BBKill sculpt with a 2-part Smooth-On epoxy I bought for another purpose. The stuff has to adhere and last, since it's going to get directly painted, I'm not going to recast to try and pulled a fully modified copy. We'll see how it goes, but I figured the sideburns were a good starting point because of the small amount of material I'll need to test.

The only characters/personages I have multiple of are from Star Wars and I didn't have any plans to change that. And even then, the duplicates exist primarily in my Hasbro collection. Not including of course troopers which could conceivably be considered different characters. My shelves will already host a Connery and Craig Bond, I don't really think I can make space for a second Craig. Not as Bond anyway, and I can't think of anything else to use him for other than some customs for which I can use much lower cost head sculpts. ;)

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I hear you, I try to keep it tight but I do indeed have multiples of a few things.

ANH and ESB Vader
ESB and ROTJ Luke
Batman from Begins and TDK (but that does nto really count)
SWat Gordon and Civvies Gordon
Walter White and Heisenberg (again, exception)
Both of Enterbay's Scarface
All three Wolverines (Gotta ditch one though and that's sad because I just bought the new one yesterday)
If you count the multiple figure's I've made from alternate outfits that com with the set, ie. Tyler Durden, Travis Bickle etc. but lets not count that so I don't feel as gluttonous...

About as far as I'd go with Craig Bond is CR and Skyfall but I'd likely opt for Madagascar or something more unique. Two from Skyfall would be hard to justify for me and I'm a HUGE Craig Bond fan

Anyway I digress.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Madagascar Bond! :clap

That's still my single favorite action sequence in the three Craig offerings thus far.

Too bad the outfit isn't very... Bondish for a 1/6th shelf figure. Two best looks still remain a tux and a good blue or gray suit.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I think we need to see more finished versions of both sculpts and take it from there. Casino Royale came out in 2006, and would have been filmed in 2005, so, next year will be 10 years since Daniel Craig took the role on. 10 years and, so far, only 3 films. I'm sure Moore did more in that time and Connery definitely shot more movies during his tenure. It's likely that Craig's next could be his last, we shall see....

Did a complete repaint of my Bond's head (wasn’t 100% happy with the first paint job). Also, picked up a decent watch for him on eBay. Not entirely sure what figure the watch is originally from, but the seller said it’s from a BBI fig.

Looks great,

I will say though that the close up does serve to emphasise just how overdone the skin texture is and how thick paint can overemphasise this.
