Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

bardem2.jpg

It's my first 1/6th sculpt... and doing Bardem first was a mistake. His face is flat and asymmetrical... and while I find him very attractive, he is freaking hard to sculpt.

I'm still very eager to see your effort completed but fair warning apparently Natchan IS doing a Raoul Silva figure to go with his Agent. As I haven't started my own bash yet I will be sorely tempted to get his since it will be complete with outfit and sculpt.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Dayum, that Natchan set is nice, how come I only hear of it now!?

Ada Chan did a Charlie Watts that I mistook for Javier when I first saw it.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

That's true certainly, but t should never be done at the expense of the audience's intelligence. Anything that pulls the audience out of the movie is a silly mistake, and this did it for me. This general discord is due to that very thing and modern cinema goer are (generally) much too savvy for that kind of 'it doesn't really make sense but put it in anyway' lazy attitude.

I dislike anything that somehow breaks the fourth wall that is the 'reality' of the film. I loathed and detested the "This never happened to the other fella!" from George Lazenby, Baron Samedi being alive and on the front of the train on Live and Let Die...I even hated the stupid wink from Connery as fat old Bond in Never Say Never Again.

Well, that's Bond for you.

I wouldn't be offended - I'm sculpting for me... There's not really any sales ambition on this particular effort. :) I'll prolly buy natchan's Silva for his clothes too! Totally psyched.

I'm planning a bunch of Bond-related sculpts this year, hopefully. I want to finish my silva, then do bond, q, and lechiffre. Then I am really hoping to do a book-canon bond based on Flemming himself and Hoagy Carmichael. If I'm still in the mood, I also want to sculpt Silva sans prosthetic. But I'm such a slow sculptor and work full time so it probably won't happen.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Hey guys -- and girl --

So Rocco just did a terrific Connery Bond sculpt that he is offering here: https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123814

I'm trying to bash an older Connery from YOLT and I contacted him about that version. He said possibly pending any interest. So I'm curious if anyone here has any interest in Connery from the later films as opposed to the current sculpt -- the Dr No era with the pompadore hair -- which seems to have multiple versions available?

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

My Kanji is a little bit weak--- what's the price on these?

Both available in March 2013

Figure - ZC World Articulate Body AB-02:
8,900 yen (Recommended retail: 9,975)

Suit - ZC World Mens Homme vol.013 1/6 Accessory:
8,000 yen (Recommended retail: 9,450)

(currency converter: https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/)

$77 for body, another $77 for the suit at 7-hobby. Total = $154

Little pricey considering you need both to make a complete figure... AND the tux isn't a real tux since the lapels are suit cut/non glossy.

But the figure looks great and the sculpt looks very good. Eager to see close-up pics.

I do have my eye on this OR Natchan's custom tux.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Yea I'm a little torn. I want the ZCWO Body/head but the Nat set is like $200. That's pretty much $300 for a decent Craig Bond

Is that true? I thought Nat's tux suit set was $80? That would be $180 for ZCWO body/head plus Nat tuxedo. Then you need shoes and weapons... so figure about $200-$220 all in.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Oh wow, I had no idea he was selling from retailers. I also didn't know you wanted the entire shebang.

If you just want Nat's tuxedo suit alone, go to his thread in our Customs Section and buy direct for $80.

I don't mind the whole set, except I don't want the headsculpt or body. If it wasn't for those I'd assume the set would be a little cheaper

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

A total of three different "JB" inspired/themed offerings are available for pre-order.

The one by NAT is this one. At lease this one comes with a PPK.

The MSRP is $199.99.

https://www.gijoeelite.com/f_itemPart.asp?strPart=GINAT-FIG01

The other two are by ZCWO.

https://www.gijoeelite.com/f_itemPart.asp?strPart=GIZC-100

https://www.gijoeelite.com/f_itemPart.asp?strPart=GIZC-101

The MSRP is $78.99 & $75.99 respectively.

IMHO . . .

I'd go with the ZCWO offerings in terms of the head sculpt and overall price ($154.98 compared to $199.99 from NAT).

As for the PPK not being available from ZCWO. This could be a workable alternative.
