Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Age has nothing to do with it, although Guru's presentation and use of words is beautiful.

My question about the DB5 simply asks when the hell Craig used that car with its array of weapons since the dialogue referenced it? Was it in "his" timeline and we just never saw it, or is it a direct reference to "Goldfinger"... which then confuses the hell out of me whether this is a reboot or not. Does Craig's Bond have all the memories and adventures that I attribute to all other Bonds? Or are we watching new Bond adventures for the first time? "Skyfall" confuses that issue... unless after "Casino Royale" we have leaped forward in time, over all the other Bond films, and are now watching the winding down of an aging Bond.

Maybe it was a relic from Q branch that Bond was aware of it being stashed away or he may have procured it for himself?

Suspension of disbelief or must everything be accounted for/explained?

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Casino Royale is a new start. The other Bond films didn't exist. But who's to say a DB5 with modifications never got made? Who cares? It's ****ing awesome. Seeing that DB5 again should make every Bond fan go "WOO!".

It's not that hard to get. This series has been always filled with winks and nods. So. Just go with it/

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

What's next in store for Bond?

A possible modernization/reboot of GOLDFINGER given the current economic, political, & social climate of the globe?

A rogue investment billionaire or a holdover from QUANTUM or possibly a resurgence or reboot of SPECTRE decides to corner the global market of gold by directing circumventing the world's gold supply of various nations . . . especially the US . . . with clandestine backing from the Chinese?

Instead of GOLDFINGER . . . give it a similar themed title . . . like . . .

THE MIDAS TOUCH?

The preceding title was actually used on a James Bond role playing game from the early 80's by Victory Games.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

The Bond universe is odd for sure with what I would call a "flexible continuity", lol. I don't think James Bond is an alias that's taken on by different agents, that's what the 007 is for. Its the same character from Dr. NO until today, played by different actors, and updated for a new generation. I always though he served in WW2 as hes referred to as a Commander in the navy. Can you imagine if one followed a clear continuity?? Hed be almost 90!

No, certainly not everything has to be explained or nothing in Bond would make sense. But I just hates 'nods'. Too self-conscious.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

id like to see a modern Blofeld.

I would too. That would be awesome. I'd like to see a new take on Goldfinger too (although besting Gert Frobe and Michael Collins would be near impossible for me).

That said, I think Anthony Hopkins would make a fantastic Bond villain... even Goldfinger. You need someone absolutely riveting to rival Craig's steely presence.

That's true certainly, but t should never be done at the expense of the audience's intelligence. Anything that pulls the audience out of the movie is a silly mistake, and this did it for me. This general discord is due to that very thing and modern cinema goer are (generally) much too savvy for that kind of 'it doesn't really make sense but put it in anyway' lazy attitude.

I dislike anything that somehow breaks the fourth wall that is the 'reality' of the film. I loathed and detested the "This never happened to the other fella!" from George Lazenby, Baron Samedi being alive and on the front of the train on Live and Let Die...I even hated the stupid wink from Connery as fat old Bond in Never Say Never Again.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Thats what i told myself when i saw the Mutt/Monkey swinging scene on KOTCS... Couldnt get back into the movie after that point.... :monkey2

That happened to me with the gopher in the opening...

A lot of things seemed "gaggy" in that movie. It wasn't a wink or a nod to the audience, it was a jab to the ribs followed by a "Get It?".

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

What is the separate tux kit? That's excellent, I need that!

I need to bash a good 1/6 Craig. Not sure where to start; there's so many heads out there yet nothing that's really grabbed me.

I'm hoping Leia finishes up her Raoul Siulva sculpt and offers it. I think I could bash an impressive Silva rather quickly if I had the right head.

Just got my "An Agent" set from natchan... the clothes are *really nice.* I recommend it! Really crisp lines. I got the full set from her with the Tom Ford gray suit for my eventual Craig Bond and the tux is going to upgrade my Dalton figure. (I just dressed him and he looks about a million times better.) It might be a place to start.

Ha, the head is going slowly because I suck at ears. If you like it when it's done, though, I'll cast one for you.

FWIW, I didn't mind the DB5. I never mind a DB5. ;)

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I love that tux! Great looking work all around. Sounds like he may be working on a Silva outfit right now, so my bash efforts may be unnecessary. I hope he makes that funky shirt Silva wears when we first meet him. Love the bronze and cream.

Yeah! :hi5:

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I'm super pleased with the Natchan set for several reasons...

1) the head is not the worst thing in the world, really it surprised me. I'd put it in the top 6or so Craig heads.

2) the body it came with is excellent. Great super high quality useable TrueType. Useable just not for this tux.

3) comes with a ppk

4) comes with an untied Bowie which I think is so cool.

5) the tux itself is nice. It's too tight for the body it's on but on an enterbay han body it's just all kinds of perfect. Fitted the right way, nice quality only drawback is its just not accurate to any tux Craig wore, nevertheless it looks the part more than any other tux, I had it o ntheniminime tux... Disaster!

Ill do some pics soon
