Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

DiD did a really great Bond a few years ago. Glad I got it for $34 with body back then.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

You guys are really confusing me. Now I don't know what to do to have a solid Craig Bond. :slap

Ray -- you have to dip into your Lisbeth custom thread. :bow

For now I'd see if you can track down BBKill's.

Are there better shots of the ZCWO Bond sculpt? Is that the best one out so far? I got the Asmus suit and I want to do a lil Skyfall Bond display

I swear I've seen one, back before ZCWO decided they'd do it. I just can't find it, though it may be in this thread somewhere.

Why has no company done a young Sean Connery??

Million dollar question! You'd think someone would have, instead we get endless bad Craigs.

Essentially they did a German Falschirmjager with a head that looked like him. TTL did a Gestapo figure that could look like a QOS Bond straight out of the box, he was kind of the first full DC Bond figure we got.

If DID could have another go, maybe doing the guy from Defiance, who knows maybe they could nail him.....

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Does anyone here own the Timothy Dalton Bond figure? I can't seem to find any decent photos of it anywhere, and am curious to get a better look at the stock figure.

I just got him, but I've already taken him apart and swapped some pieces around. I can take take some shots for you, though, if there's something specific that you want.

Otherwise, Positron posted his a few pages back:

A couple shots of the face and profile of the head sculpt would be great, if you don't mind. I'd also love a better look at his assembled gun. Thanks a bunch!

:slap Somehow I managed to miss that one while going back through nearly the entire thread. Thanks again!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Here are some shots of the head. I packed up his camera gun, but I'll take pics of it later. He's much better in person than the official photos - I was pleasantly surprised. I think the resemblance is decent, but I hate his hair. The hairline is all wrong for it to be slicked back, and I really identify Dalton with his feathery, fluffy hair anyway.

I'm going to be shaving off his hair and resculpting it as soon as I have the time!

The body and tux shown are NOT the default. The body he comes with is a plasticky, shiny body with kind of crappy jointing and really toy-ish sculpting. You know, the insectoid abs, etc. The default tux isn't bad, but could benefit from putting in a few stitches at the seams to fit it to his body bit better.

Here I've got him on the body that came with the Nat Craig Bond set... and in the Nat tux. It's a NICE tux. So happy with it. I included a full-length pic for anyone interested in seeing the fit of the Nat tux.

Wow! Those are exactly the type of shots I've been looking for. This being an older Sideshow figure I was a bit worried about the likeness, but I think he looks great. I agree, the hair isn't very accurate, but the face is pretty spot on if you ask me. I'm looking forward to seeing the improvements you make on it.

Timothy Dalton is my favorite Bond, so I think I'll have to start trying to track this guy down now. Thank you, Leia! :)

Dalton is my second favorite (I love Craig), so I really want his figure to look great when it's done.

There was a Dalton for around $80 on eBay last week, he might still be up if you check!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

To me, Dalton was by far the weakest of the SSC sculpts, the Connery was nice as were Moore and Brosnan.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I agree with that for sure! To me all of the sideshow sculpts just look so cartoony now, though Connery is the best of the bunch specifically
Dr no.

I know head play started releasing some bond heads, Moore and Brosnen but they looked like they had Down syndrome.

Part of the hype of a good bond movie is I was hoping ot would spawn imterest again. It's criminal that we don't have more custom or unlicensed young Connerys and crazy there are not more of the other guys.

Very frustrating.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I thought their Roger Moore wasn't that bad. DID should do The Wild Geese or their approximations thereof, then they could do Moore again.

I was surprised there wasn't that big a resurgence in interest during his 50th.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Why has no company done a young Sean Connery??

Because Sean Connery has never been young. ;)

The Maximus Dr.No-era head sculpt is far and away the best Connery that's ever been done/painted. If you want to part with about US$98 and a few weeks lead-time, it's still available from the artists.

The Medicom Craig looks older than the actor - it needs some paint rescue to make it "Bond" IMO. The ZCWO version also looks a bit too weathered/wrinkled/old and probably needs a little bit of filler in addition to paint. The Roadshow sculpt is nice but off in enough small details so it doesn't look exactly like the actor - but still looks like a real human. The Brothers version (pre-prod) looks good but a bit caricature-like. This is an issue that plagues a lot of sculpts of a lot of actors, where the sculptor concentrates too much on certain distinguishing features and ends up embellishing them too much.

The Dalton sculpt posted earlier suffers greatly in this last regard and also looks a little prosthetic, almost like a Ken-doll version of Dalton. I don't think there's any mistaking it's him, but it's cartoon/animated version, not a life-like representation. That Maximus Connery sculpt I mentioned looks like a real severed head in your hand by comparison.

I'm waiting for 2 Craig MI6 agents from Brothers to bash - one of the bodies will be used with the Connery head.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Yes the Maximus Connery is best for a dr no bond. It's the best out there but I want a hot toys/ enterbay/ Rainman etc. quality Conerry. No exceptions. The Maximus is more detailed and realistic than the sideshow but its still not up to snuff. That being said its proudly beside by Craig. Repainted medicom, it's actually near perfect likeness. One of the best in my collection currently.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Connery has one of those faces that's so recognisable. If you see a representation and something is off, even if it's minor, it stands out a mile due to the image you have of the actual actor that is burned into your brain.

It's the same with Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig.

I have to agree with the assessment that it's a bit more doll-like than I'd consider ideal... and I'm hoping that a repaint with less cartoony brows and more shading will help bring him to life.

It's hard when there aren't other options, though. I mean, really... what are the chances that another artist is going to offer a Dalton Bond in the future? Probably not so great; he was only in two movies and he just wasn't a terrifically popular Bond. Most of the people I know like Connery, Brosnan, and Craig.
