Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

One question you guys can ask yourselves when studying the work of others is: 'Could I sculpt a better one myself!?'

If you can then get off your butt and make one and then all of us might have something to be happy about!

Mick Jagger has a nice line for times like these:

"You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you get what you need.."

OK, I'm not killing myself on total acuracy for my Bond's [ and other spies] but there is one thing I would like. Does anyone know where I can get Connery's blue Dr No holster?

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

This is intriguing:

The main pic of him in the tux doesn't appear to have the same head as the promo pics of the body. Did they revise the production sculpt!?

I actually really like the head shown on the tux... it looks very promising!

Re: accuracy - the man looks different from every angle and in every photo. He has a strange way of holding his mouth sometimes that completely changes the shape. Here's a good pic to illustrate it. Craig in a mirror - his reflection almost looks like a different person. Crazy.

No, I can't sculpt one. I haven't tried but I know my first attempts wouldn't come out any better than the ones that have come out. But when you spend $X on a sculpt, $X on a paint job, $X on a suit, $X on accessories, and $X on a body I think we have every right to be critical of these sculpts. I don't want to pay for a sculpt I'm not in love with only to upgrade it later.

I'm not meaning to come off whiney, I was just responding to Nathan's paint job. I like it and it made me appreciate a sculpt I'd earlier written off as ugly. I think a great paint job is harder to come by than a great sculpt. Some of the coolest sculpts I've seen have turned out like garbage after being painted. Alot factory painted SSC come to mind...

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Well said, it always amazes me when some people discount the importance of a great paint application - no one recently here, just making an observation of all the time I've spent reading here in the past year. While paint can't make a completely botched sculpt look exactly like it should, an otherwise great sculpt can easily be ruined by poor paint.

Coincidentally, Just a moment ago I was looking at the Sideshow Henry Jones Sr. thread and near the end of the thread there's a fantastic repaint. The original sculpt is good, but the factory paint job from Sideshow is quite bland, bordering on bad and really detracts from the likeness.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Of course, the other elephant in the room is the thread title. While Eon have the rights there won't be an official James Bond figure!

Unless Daniel Craig is in a Marvel movie you lot will be running out of options pretty soon!

Although to be clear, the Craig on the right is a reflection of a reflection, and so is the "real" Craig....as it were

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Beats me! :dunno

Right now, I'm all for cutting my losses and going for the head from the one in my post. Might not be brilliant, but, it's painted it's there and it'd mean I could get mine done and move on.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Don't shoot the messenger!

Looks much better than their prototype! Why didn't they revise the weapons to actually be Bond's weapons? :slap

I like it. I'm tempted to pull the trigger and get him a gray suit. I prefer the suit to the tux for DC Bond. Anymore pics? I can only find that awful prototype version. The eBay photos mostly show that as well and aren't encouraging.

:lol

This thread is 6 years old, back when they were licensing things. And they will again.

I'm of the same mind.

Also think I found a good tux for Skyfall Bond...

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Damn, that's a sweet dinner jacket. Now to check the price... I may have one of my Brothers Production MI6 agents for sale when I get them in-hand. I'd use this new tux with my Connery Bond.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Yeah, its a great jacket. The shirt that comes with the white tux (there's a full white tux too) comes with a shirt with black buttons.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I'm torn. That's a nice tux! But I really have always had my heart set on my DC Bond being in a suit and tie. Hmmm...
