Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

A wonderful person and new friend has graced me with a very special piece...

Sorry for the soft focus here and there, low light conditions, but I thought these few moody shots favored the sculpt best (besides the fact that I haven't gotten home from work while it is still light out yet). This is Leia's very first human character sculpt and I think she really did an amazing job with a very difficult subject. I am honored to be able to add this piece to my growing Bond collection. Thank you again, leia. :bow Villains rule!

I'm also very eager to see if I can sort the cream-and-bronze outfit he wore in the film on Dead Island.

Great! I can't wait to see what you do with this guy. (I think he'd look best in either his outfit from the end or in a British police officer outift.)

I think his black trench outfit from the climax is an excellent look as well, but I have so many black-clad figures on my shelf. And the British checkered outfit really is a disguise and not something reflective of the character.

I'm going to try for the first outfit -- the brown and cream suit. I think that suit with that crazy shirt and a flintlock pistol would really pop on the shelf amongst my all-too-large Bond collection.

If I get my hands on the "nasty mouth" version I might make a prison cell version of him in that pale yellow jumpsuit.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Definitely the prison garb for the nasty mouth version... I don't think you can go wrong with the brown and cream suit-- especially as it's the signature look for when he's initially introduced in that awesome scene with Bond tied to the chair.

I look forward to more pics without the "soft focus" which gives it a very .....Mattel feeling.
Will this be available or was it made specifically for you?

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

This particular sculpt was a first effort by leia here on the boards. I believe it's a one-off although she had mentioned that she may do a "nasty mouth" version at some point.

These are a bit clearer...

There's a subtle smugness to the sculpt that I like...

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Thanks for the newer pics. Definitely a great sculpt.

Would anyone of suggestions of what clothes might be easily available for a big SS bodied custom Jaws?

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

The "Mattel" feeling people are getting is probably due to the very light and powdery looking (doll-like) paint app. With a more aggressive paint app I think it would really shine, more skin and wrinkle texture and imperfections, stubble, etc.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Thanks for the kind words, Wor-Gar! I can't wait to see what you do with him!

He's a sculpt I did for me to go with my eventual Bond and Q. I like him and I feel good about the sculpt, but I don't necessarily think he's sale-quality; in general, my feeling is that it's a bad idea to sell your first attempt at anything, and this is my first try at a realistic 1/6th portrait sculpt. Maybe the scary mouth one will be up to scratch.

It's my first try at an action figure paint-up... I'm actually a fashion doll repaint artist. (Mystery solved, right? ;)) The learning curve is a bit steep for me; I'm not used to that "give him big ol' visible pores and age spots and wrinkles" aesthetic of action figures yet. I cast a second head for myself and I'm going to try higher contrast, but I've been too lazy to work on him.

(Meantime I have lost the start of the Daniel Craig sculpt somewhere in the couch.)

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Guys, remember these sculpts are about an inch high... we tend to make judgments based on macro-shots that make the little sculpt nearly 1/1 on a computer screen. HT has spoiled us all. This one fits in nicely with my varying collection that spans Sideshow Bonds from 2003 all the way to modern sculpts of today.

That said, I can see how some reddening in the right spots would make him look more realistic and less even-toned. I sort of like the paleness for his character but after looking at pics I see he isn't as pale and pasty as I remember him. He's a bit more ruddy and masculine. I may add a red wash to see if that "butches" him up. Gotta keep some effeminate side to him though; he's bisexual after all.

Which Jaws are you trying to make? Jaws with the blue jacket? Or Moonraker Jaws? I have the blue jacket from SWLM on mine.

Best base clothes (pants and shirt) really come with the SS figure.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Yeah a bit of subtle shading here and there wouldn't go amiss. But you have to be very subtle here as I don't think he's been near a tanning salon in his life!

Mind you, neither has 007!

Well, I don't really have an interest in the scary mout look, but if you do decide to offer these, please think of me.

I wasn't really sure which way to go. I don't really have much to start with other than a head someone sent me a while ago and a body that should work.

Well, JAWS in SWLM mostly wore gray pants, off-white shirt, tie and that powder blue jacket.

Moonraker JAWS wore brown pants, off-white shirt and those distinctive suspenders -- gray in SWLM and brown in MR.

It might be worth lurking on Sideshow Jaws ebay sales. The whole outfit is right there and you can make suspenders from strips of material... or buy the "gangster jacket" I used and dye it blue.

Building from scratch will be tough because of the size of the clothing. Maybe try "Frankenstein" figures for the brown pants, which are generally oversized. Also try 16 inch dolls for pants and shirts that you would then have to take in somewhat.

Is the sculpt you acquired the SS sculpt or a new one?

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I believe its the Sideshow one. I've had it for a number of years but recently got very much emerged in the spy craze again. Working on stuff from Bond, I Spy, U.N.C.L.E., etc....

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

It was mainly the boots which added height to the Frankenstein Monster, the rest was standard. Jaws had a special body and gear that was tailored to it.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I got the Asmus Bond suit too.... I know I still need a correct pistol and Evilface stand graphics on order... but Im happy with it for now...

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Nice!

Is that Natchan's DC sculpt? The DID T Becker had a nice silenced PPK. HT's Saeko City Hunter figure also had one, though it wasn't silenced.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Yes that the "An Agent" head..... Good from some angles, but not definitive. I'm on the lookout for an upgrade someday.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

It's the most definitive Alfred E. Neuman sculpt I've seen to date.

It looks like it was sculpted by the same person that did this one:
