Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Every bond head released so far has major flaws I think Medicom with the right repaint is still the strongest. If released the new bbkill will beat it.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

No, there's no news from BBKill, he can't work miracles overnight. We have to give him time and not constantly post "Any news!?". When he has something to show you can rest assured we'll know about it.

I meant literally any news, not new pictures or progress on the sculpt. Like has he decided to actually sell anything? I've subscribed to the thread but I suspect, like we see non-Craig related images and discussion there, he crosses over to others as well. I'm pretty sure I scanned the whole thing recently and didn't see a confirmation on whether he was going to be selling casts, nor when that might be if so.

I don't think the Medi is as strong as the Roadshow, the Roadshow-like resculpt from eBay I showed recently, the bbkill original, not even close to the ZCWO, the off-sized sculpts we've seen, etc. It's not at the very bottom, but it gets way more praise than it deserves. No amount of paint is going to fix it and hide the misproportioned features and haggard lines. I don't even think it's a good sculpt of Jake from Cowboys and Aliens, forgetting about who played the character. I wouldn't use that sculpt in a Craig Bond bash even if there were absolutely no other sculpts available. But that's just me. ;)

Ya, that looks like crap. In that photo it's close to the bottom of all sculpts I've ever seen that are supposed to represent Craig - it's a realistic sculpt of an anemic soldier or someone in a prison camp - or a corpse with its eyes open, since it lacks any sign of life. It's just not Craig, not at all. I'm not sure why they even bother showing that sculpt in a tux, they've ruined it.

Well, the only person in the know is BBKill. I'm sure if the test print is good then he'll offer it. These things take time and I'm afraid all we can do is wait...

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

The DID figure, if they do actually offer it is as close as a major company like them can get. They couldn't do a fully accurate Daniel Craig Bond with the attention they get. United Artists would be all over them like a rash.

It'll satisfy most, but then, of course, that ain't us!

Personally the latest one you posted to me is the worst of the bunch :lol So yeah it's a matter of taste.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

With their market, they'd be better off not showing it on a tux and just go for the german officer that was mentioned before, while creating a better likeness.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Well, DID actually look to be breaking away from WWII as another of their of their new releases is a modern SWAT figure.

Whatever, this is either a prototype or one they may not even release, we'll just have to see. Right now though, BBKill's head looks more likely to be released.

It's the eyes that are majorly off for me on that sculpt, but I do really like it. (Yes I can see the good in things, too!) but ill definitely buy that full set up. It looks great and will grace my shelves until bbkill releases his sculpt, if ever.

I think I'd like one DC bond in a tux and one in a sharp suit! I can't decide between either look!!!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Oh, I forgot to ask last time... Is this yet another tux that's going to be offered? If so, the lapels actually look pretty good for a Connery Bond.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Does anyone here actually look at photographes of Craig when analizing these sculpts? That new digital sculpt doesn't look any better than the one above. Who knows what it will look like once it's printed out?

yruh8n?

This much is true. After printing a lot of clean-up work needs to be done before making a final mold. A lot of opportunity to ruin a design. ;)

Do you actually own any action figures? Seriously, if this isn't good, I don't know what is :dunno:lol

This was my point. Most people on here don't understand the process. As I have stated before his first digital attempt looked good as a 2d picture of the file. Once it was printed out it lost a lot of what made the digital file look like Craig. When the most popular painter on these forums can't save a sculpt, it was never there in the first place. Hard to get excited about something that has the potential to be another dropped ball. Looking at the new digital file there are things that still look off. No surprise they are the same things that were not accurate on the first one.

Yes I own several and have tried sculpting my own heads. Even though I lack the skill to produce the sculpts myself I learned a lot about what makes a portrait a good likeness. I tend to be over critical of these things because of what I have learned. Mine is just one of many opinions being expressed.

It's true... at this point I question if it's just about going against the grain for going against the grain's sake.

OF COURSE... it could all change when it's printed. But as a rendering? Hard to argue that's not almost right on.
