That's what I thought. But if they stuck a few extras on with the Avatar movie, the picture quality would suffer because of it?

Not especially, but if you put on the disc a 2 hour documentary, plus featurettes, plus other stuff, then yeah, pq will suffer, even if slighty.

Oh and also, the movie is already 2hr and 40 mins, so that's quite a lot too.

The release in November is supposed to be 4 discs so I'm assuming the documentary will be on one disc and the movie on one. This release is basically just to cash in while the getting is good. He knew alot of people would buy it. They all do that if they can now. At least he, and Jackson, are up front about what they're doing.

I really hate that cover, but I can't wait to get this!

I do as well... that image just looks really off to me. Seems to be the main one for posters, but I don't like it.

Oh well, guess I have to wait a month to get this from Netflix  but I have not interest in buying this twice on BluRay :lol

It's weird too because that main poster was undoubtedly made before the final renders of Neytiri for the film, making it look not much like her. Neytiri never had that evil alien look. It is the same with the picture of Neytiri on the Mattel figures:

Who in the hell is that? :lol

I would have preferred a cover like this:

ew that looks nothing like neytiri, it looks like she's blazed or with that forehead she looks like rihanna as a navi.

OMG! pnadora !!! I have beeeeen in linve since seven pulling bmy blue ewars and singing songs!!!! Can't wait to touch b my movie!!! :lol

Just kidding. Mines coming from Amazon and I speak English. LOL!

Finally got around to watching this movie, yeah only 2D. I bet the visuals would be even more eyepopping in 3D. Great visuals.

That's where the positive feeling ends however, IMHO.

The story-line: poor. Characters: boring.

Cameron's thinly veiled polical diatribe against: Big Business, logging, capitalism, his over-the-top pro-environmental ranting, PC native-loving (well instead of being 'noble red savages' the Navi are noble blue savages), and pro-"green burial" quagmire of a movie was very tiring at the end of 2+ hours.

My overall rating of the movie:monkey4:monkey4:monkey4:monkey4
out of 5

People are raving about the picture quality of the Blu-ray on hometheaterforum.com right now. Apparently it takes up 45 gigs of the disc's 50 GB capacity. Can't wait to pick mine up.

Wow. New details from Cameron himself about the SE coming in November.

Apparently you'll be able to choose between watching the theatrical cut, an extended version (only six minutes longer), or a WIP-style super extended version with 35 minutes of extra scenes. Apparently the WIP cut will feature mostly unfinished scenes due to it not representing Cameron's final vision of the story but it's being included so fans can see where the movie might have gone.

And IN ADDITION to those THREE versions of the movie, you'll have the option to watch the entire film with only reference footage of the actors and animals and NO motion-captured CGI. :horror Cameron says its a total trip but the essence of the movie is still there. An absolute MUST OWN set in the making!

Has anyone seen it in 2d? Is it even worth seeing? If the 3D effect is achieved by using polarized glasses, I know I won't get the effect. Add to that a barely functioning projector at the theater(which doesn't help most 2D movies), and it probably won't be worth my time.

I'm not sure what you're really saying
