I can wait to see this again. If I ever get the Blu-ray, it will be the one they release in November.

:lol

I did the EXACT same thing. And agree with everything else too.

Yeah, same here. I've seen the movie a few times now, so the "Wow, these effects are great!" factor has worn off. Although, like you guys have said, the picture on this blu-ray is definitely one of the best I've seen.

Honestly I watched this on Bluray yesterday. It looks and sounds amazing! Probably the best quality Bluray to date. However, I found myself getting up to do other things and just left the movie playing. I did laundry, posted on the boards, and cooked dinner. This movie is ok. I just don't see the 10 out of 10 movie that others see. There are just so many boring parts. Personally I really didn't have any kinda feeling for the characters either. I think that's the big part. I stick by my original review of 6 out of 10. The effects and Bluray though I will give 10 out of 10. :dunno

I do have high hopes for the sequel though. I will still go right out and see it.

I agree there are alot of parts that are very boring and it doesnt need to be so long, but the movie is just awesome on bluray even the sound. I still love this movie but i hope the sequal is a lot better and shows more of pandora. I still give this movie a 9 and i love it alot but i still dont get why you would commit suicide over this freaking movie.

I found nothing in this movie boring at all. Fastest 3 hours ever.

I was enjoying the world yes....but the only part that was boring was the simple story and characters.

What? LOL! That's the point I was trying to make. You can repaint the house but if it's ____ty it's still the same house no matter what color you paint it. Avatar sure was pretty to look at, listen too, and see in 3D. But the simple story and characters is what makes it not hold up to repeated viewings in my opinion. That's what makes it boring.

I'm not argueing with ya. I'm just saying, It didnt feel "boring" to me....just...annoyed. I still found it incredibly entertaining dispite the story and characters. It was a fun ride, and nothing more.

went to my local video store to rent this and i was surprised to see only 6 copies on the wall. when i asked about it they said they were short shipped and didn't know when they'd get anymore. of course the 6 they had were rented out. ____, they had more copies of mall cop:banghead

I loved only neytiri , jake and quarich everyone i didnt care about, any scenes with the navi are so awesome btw i forgot how awesome the banshee fight looks even on bluray it's awesome.

I saw the dvd and blu ray at the store yesterday. I picked it up, glanced at the back, laughed, and then put it back down. Screw that. Will wait for the real version.

The Blu-ray looks amazing. Its so crystal clear some of the scenes look borderline 3D just on their own.

I'm glad we got this release even if it'll be a double dip come November. The theatrical cut on the SE will no doubt have one or more commentary tracks that would impede the maximum picture and sound they were going for with this release.

I'll watch alternate cuts and special features on the Special Edition set, but this release is the one I'll always go to when I just want to watch the movie itself.

No, it looks great. The more I've seen the better it looks. It's just intially when I put it in I wasn't BLOWN away. Had really high expectations I guess and was looking for trademark things I look for in blu ray's like alot of detailed textures or facial features etc. But because it's smooth skinned blue aliens and most of the movie is CGI and has specific color palettes and lighting and stuff, it's just how the movie was intended.
So yes it is awesome looking and perfect.
At the same time, I thought the DVD was very good as well. That's why initially the Blu Ray wasn't blowing my mind. Because even the DVD looks good. It's just because overall it's a colorful good looking CGI movie.

The DVD version looks absolutely horrible in comparison to the Blu Ray unless you like a muted color palette, soft/blurry looking picture and a ton of artifacts. I can no longer take anything you say seriously again. :lol

you did everything but take a poo. fail :monkey2

Avatar is just as good on Blu-ray as it was in theaters.

A few things I noticed, good and bad:

Some of the Na'vi full body shots (usually when more than one or two Na'vi are on screen) do look a tad "animated." The close-ups are still phenomenal, and better than any CG visuals I've ever seen on screen.

The shot where Jake rolls down the ramp for the first time into the camp actually looks better than I remembered it. At least in the trailers that always had a pretty strong CG look to it, much more realistic now.

The Christ metaphor stuck out even more, right down to his initial water baptism and "annointing" by glowing tree sprites (as opposed to a white dove.)

The scientists seemed to have a pretty flawed security system for their forays into the forest. Even with Jake's Na'vi sized machine gun, two of the three alien species they encountered were immune to their weaponry. It would have taken seconds for either a hammerhead titanothere or the predatory thanator to dispatch the entire helicopter crew and the lone soldier with human-sized assault rifle should one happen upon them.

Anyone have any plausible reason for Quaritch to dispatch ground troops in the final attack? Don't get me wrong, I love every aspect of the ensuing battle and especially the final showdown but it seems that if the primary mission is to simply bomb the Tree of Souls to kingdom come you send in your bombers and air support, do your business, then fly home.

The music was better than I remembered it. A really great score.

I thought it was kind of cool that Eywa didn't send in the wilderness legions until after Tsu Te was killed. It gave a divine hand to Jake's ascension to leadership.

Terrific, terrific popcorn entertainment and absolutely thrilling adventure. Even got a little bit of vertigo at home when Jake had to jump to that one vine during his climb to get his banshee.
