I'm double dipping. I bought the initial version when it came out in April. JC took extra time on it to make sure the blu-ray came out with the best possible video and audio quality, and it didn't disappoint. I only hope this release is just as good of quality, because the previous version almost had no more room on the disc for extras. So hopefully with the additional footage added to the movie it doesn't take away from the quality. The extras will all have to be on the other discs. I'm excited to get it because I thought the additional footage was awesome.

According to the review it's every bit as good.

I wish James would've put in a no CGI version, with no effects, just the actors in the grey suits, and weird hats. That would've been awesome.

Panasonic has a 1 year exclusive deal for the 3D version, so you'll only see it bundled with Panasonic gear. Once that is up, then you'll see it come out as a stand alone.

I was thinking about doing the same! !
I just got the Extended edition last night at it's beautiful.
Though I was expecting a booklet or something other than just a sheet with specs...
I haven't watched it yet, will do this weekend hopefully!

I'll probably just gift it to someone who is getting a BluRay player or is on the fence; the PQ is at the top amongst anything I have seen, and I know it will sway them towards the format.

Me too! In fact there's a video from earlier in the year of him promising that. I wonder if it got pushed to the Ulra 3D Super Collector Set. Oh well.

By far the best of Cameron's special editions regardless. I haven't cared for his previous extended cuts but the new Avatar footage is fantastic. I hope they finish a few of the better deleted scenes (like that tribal dance and that trippy worm induced hallucination) and include them as part of the movie someday.

And Hot Toys Avatar FTW! Can't wait to see final reveals!
