I understand not wanting to pay that much for a flick, but I would highly suggest shelling out the extra couple bucks for the full effect.

Yeah I couldn't understand why people were in line to see the regular version. ????! I want to see it in IMAX. I think if I did I would have rated it higher.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

Holy crap! Why did I read all that?

Went to Avatar for the second time today and it still rocked! This may be the most excited I've ever been over a movie. I might even go again.

Bought a bunch of toys from the movie afterward... Felt great ripping them open.

Well I was going to see Avatar again tonight, but it was sold out! All my friends got in, but naturally I was the first person turned away. I guess that's good, though. Means Avatar might not be doing so badly.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

Yeah I have to say when the first trailers were released way back when I watched them once and wasnt impressed. I remember thinking it looked a little too cartoony for me.

I went and seen it today and I have to say a fantastic film. A really great movie. I think I was impressed mostly by the mechanical/vehicular design and creature design the most. Really great stuff.

I just came back from seeing Avatar with my buddy ArmoredFoe....and never thought I would see the day that we were both speechless!!!

That film is extraordinary!....Just epic!! It's a nice way to close out this decade!!!:monkey2:monkey2:monkey2:monkey2:monkey2

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

I tried to watch it today in IMAX 3D, but they said that it had been sold out for weeks. The only time to see it in IMAX 3D was 2AM tonight. I said forget it. I will wait for a few weeks until the commotion dies down but I want to see it in IMAX 3D.

YAY! I'm glad you liked it, Bam. I thought you were over in O-Town tonight but I guess I had the date wrong. I was gonna make you come hang out and maybe see Avatar after the party was over.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

I watched it in 2D and loved every minute of it. Now I want to go see it in Imax, hopefully when the showings aren't sold out.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

Just freakin incredible, I can not stop thinking about it, I really loved it and I have to admit i did not give a crap about any of the previews or the hype. I aw it out of chore because i knew as a sci fi fan it was the thing you had to do this weekend. :)

It just blew my mind, really it is revolutionary.

Saw it! Was amazing! I saw it in 3D in the theatres. Is it different if I saw it at the Imax? I just prefer Real3D to Imax's 3D version.

But I didn't really get the whole 3D effect. Nothing mind blowing. Journey to the Center of the Earth took better use of the 3D. Granted this is a vastly superior film in every other way.

Definitely a larger scale District 9. btw District 9 was done by the Vancouver school, and James Cameron is Canadian... What is it with Canadians owning Hollywood? Aussies are up there as well.

I See You (Yet another Weta visual feast with that phrase) …

Walking into the film I am not sure it could have exceeded my expectations, reason being I don’t know if my expectations have been as high in a very long time. I just had to see it in IMAX 3D to ensure what was supposed to be the maximum eye candy. So did the film deliver? Well yes and no, the story was as I expected very predictable and well honestly dull. Take away the amazing visuals and there were so many thin spots and texture less characters (Michelle Rodriguez WTF?!) that the film would hardly stand up on its own. The grey, dull, metallic bad humans; vs the colorful, vibrant and luminescent natives. What is unobtainiam, why do humans need it? Why are they so hell-bent on getting their greedy hands on it, even when confronted with scientific evidences of greater importance? These ideas fell very flat, but that isn’t important I suppose if all you want to do is provide another picture of gluttonous man, using and abusing all that they touch. The world of Pandora was created beautifully, and most of the creatures were really quite interesting for me, the visuals did emerse me in the that world; much more than any created realm since King Kong (but I was literally sweaty and uncomfortable during District 9 - it made me never when to go do Joberg!). There were only a few elements of the CG that didn’t really work, or where I didn’t find it believable; mainly the Avatar of Weaver, it didn’t have nearly the realism that Sully and the true Na’vi had. I suppose I might still need some time to let the movie sit with me, but overall it was good; but not great, I won’t be seeing it again until Blu. I did find the opening scenes on the transport ship worth the price of the IMAX ticket, I literally got dizzy spinning around in weightlessness.

A fair 7/10 for me.

I thought the same thing. I think I liked the REAL 3-D better than IMAX 3-D, plus tickets cost half as much. IMAX tickets were $16 vs. $7 matinee yesterday.
