If I got a prosthetic, I think I'd get a gorilla. I'm asking you about the mask longevity because I'm starting to give this prosthetic thing some thought for the first time ever. :angelsmil.

It's a requirement!! It's nitty and gritty but oh so goddamned fun!!!!

I look at it like this. Doing this at least once in my lifetime, will be such a thrill! Something I'll remember for the rest of my life. I'm not getting any younger, so I really should do this soon. I'll have to start saving up for this prosthetic and making items whenever I can. I'm sure once I get started, I'll be hooked! ;)

There is a boiler suit you can buy in the UK that needs minor alterations. All the info is on the Forum of the Apes. I believe it was less than $40 for the boiler suit...Denise can do all the alterations. Matt Sotis sells the ape toes....Besides the prosthetics and ape toes, you can probably MacGuyver EVERYTHING!! Raw Apemania appliances are only $125. It's a simple paint job especially for a gorilla. You just need two types of rubber mask grease paint: brown and black.

Can you buy the wigs/hairpieces also at apemania?

Yes, but it's pricey. I believe Apemania is trying to locate a manufacturer so that the neck wrap would be more affordable. They are planning on a June unveiling of that. I don't remember how much it would cost.

WOW! Jessica, you did an amazing job! You look really great. I don't know if I would have the patience to do all that. :lol I'm looking forward to seeing more of your sculpts. :D

Here's an old photo, Saya:

I am currently working on enhancing my wig. If I had lace I would be hand-tying hair to it right now. I should be studying for my midterm tomorrow, but I've absorbed all I can. I need to work with my hands and construct.

I am also waiting for some more heads to be mailed to me for painting. I have 7 mego-scale heads I am waiting for, and 4 1:6 scale sculpts of mine that I need to paint. Carsia has some paint on her but she needs a lot of work.

I am just one lucky monkey. I never made it to try to get professional photographs taken, so this is good enough for me. I was able to order from the website.

I don't know how I missed your thread Jesica but I did. It was one of the funnest I've been thru and all your stuff looks great.

That costume is killer! :rock I'd love to make something like that(not a female chimp of course :D) for myself that I could walk around ComicCon in someday.

Thank you. You should check out ForumoftheApes.com because it's a great place to start on how to put an ape costume together. Except for the foam latex appliance that you could get from Apemania.com, and the wig that you probably would prefer to buy instead of make, you can pretty much MacGuyver everything.

The hardest costume to make would be an orangutan costume, because after all these years (20 and counting), I STILL haven't found the most perfect orange. And I really hate trying to dye fabric for 1:6 scale costumes. Think of the logistics for 1:1!!

Here is a photo of me plugging up my right ear with my thumb and trying to hear my girlfriend through the din of the crowd on the cellphone when we got separated. Do I look like a Wookie? The caption on Flickr said, "Is this a Wookie?"

Wow. I am feeling so overwhelmed. I'm going to slow down. I'm going to concentrate on these four Mego head repaints and accomplish SOMETHING...instead of running around doing a bit of this and a bit of that. I want to complete these by Saturday so that I can move onto another ape-related project...probably start my wig which is a real time sucker.

But I did put some layers of paint on Carsia. She's still a work in progress...and pretty.....incomplete! Yeah. I was going to say pretty ugly, but she's not. I still love her.
