JND Studios 1/6 scale Heath Ledger Joker figure

No, its not the greatest Joker ever made, but it looks similar to the prototype which is what i ordered. Happy to display this in my collection.

Not to mention, I haven’t used that phrase for this piece.

I’ve said that I’ve liked it, and thought about getting it. But I think it’s over priced and have mentioned I feel like I could get my ideal version by getting the HT and InArt sculpts redone while using the parts I have instead of spending money on this. I’ve also expressed my disappointments with this piece but they’re the same disappointments I’ve had with the proto, so nothing has changed in my feelings towards this.

Also, to keep things in context, I said that in regards to feeling like a drop in quality with the InArt Ron from proto to production. I’m not seeing that here. Taking likeness out of the equation, the JND figure itself looks like the prototype, if not better. I don’t see a drop from proto to production here.

The technology used for the figure is really cool and interesting - however, I want my big 12 inch toys to be really realistic action figures that I can pose without fear of them falling apart or degrading. For that reason I dislike phicen or any rubber or silicone used on figures. That's just a personal preference.

If I were to buy this figure (and even with above preface, I did consider it) then I would have problem because all my other Dark Knight figures won't match, none of them are silicone. Same issue with catwoman (even though she looks great)... I think I got the ocd guys.

Regardless of all the tech it's the portrait likeness that can kill a figure and change people's perception on what is or is not an acceptable amount to spend. Unfortunately, for JND theirs just isn't that good and this is magnified because Hot Toys and Inart have just released theirs and at a much lower price point (in my opinion they all miss the mark but at a lower price its easier to take). Now at JND pricing you are naturally going to be compared to customs and there is no more fertile ground than custom ledger jokers! Even customs from five years ago look more accurate in the portrait department than this figure and it's not a patch on what the top artists are knocking out today.

The paint also suffers because they have gone for some weird mash up of interrogation style make up but not corresponding hair and the outfit also does not align with this look. It's an artists impression of ledger joker and that is not going to cut it in this space. Ledger joker fabs are accuracy nuts (me included) and were spending crazy money on accurate print socks years ago - they need the accuracy.

The clothing was supposed to be the better than customs, the best jacket ever. So far the tailoring does not look good enough to match the hype that they created.

There is space for JND in this market but if you go for the ledger joker crown at this price point you have to be the best. You have to be the most accurate yet, you need the best jacket, the sculpt is got to make people think twice about customs, the rooting needs to be accurate color wise but also to Heath's hairline and the make up needs to be on point and align with a scene that matches the rest of the look of the figure. Without these it does not matter how great the advancement is in materials that you have used, you have failed at the fundamental challenge.

This is why they are being torn down. They have the hubris to market this as the rolex of ledger joker figures to such an extent that customers believed that JND would upgrade the figure in production to equal that expectation. Unfortunately, they delivered a figure that is close to a prototype that already missed the mark.

I believe the Phicen / TBLeague figures are using TPE and not Silicone in the bodies - which is why they breakdown so quickly. I think A LOT of companies are misleading people when they say they are using "medical grade silicone" - when in truth, they're straight up using TPE....

I like my Inart better- so there! Honestly, I do not see the upgrade- not for that price.
Those who love it or bought it I have no issue with- subjective view and deep pockets. We all love our Jokers!
