The previous T-rex was great but I was not a fan that it had no base. I'm a base guy so I made my own....

I had to have looked at the pictures on the Kenner packaging that used it for promo shots 100 times wanting a toy that looked like it and not the one we got, which was still amazing in its own right, and I still have my original roaring JP Rex from '93.

Wow. This is exactly my story. And my kid has my original T-Rex, now in the company of the new Mattel one. It looks bad, but gives some nice memories. I was so amazed at that promo pic, bud did not know at that time that they could not produce that quality for mass market. Well, I am still hoping for a cheaper version of that maquette.

They'll never call it what it is on account of not having the license, but the sculpt looks closer to Buck than anything else they've done.

New update from Nanmu on their Buck:

Today we bring news about Tyrannosaurus Rex. It is expected to be pre-sold in the second quarter of 2021, please look forward to it.

Love the new pose, gives him a very heavy, lumbering look. Excited to see the paint app and other accessories they throw in. Crossing fingers for a base.

Looks fantastic. Kind of bummed out that I purchased the green older Nanmu if this new one is supposed to be the green Buck!! Even though the green version looks amazing. I just don't need all versions of the same mold.

Nanmu female Rex (I have green) is a beautiful piece. Amazing sculpt and paint apps.
