I like the Dio, but I'm not really into statues so its a no-go for me. But overall it seems really nice. I do wonder what the banner is made of? It would be cool to rig it up on some poles, or something to have it drape above the scene.

Maybe its on a material that you can bend and twist to get that nice fluttering movement as it falls?

I've loved dinos since I was a kid, and I'm a huge fan of JP. This was an easy buy.

Just got home and got the dio on pre-order...still a little 'iffy' about it but I will hold onto it for now. We'll see how it goes when it gets closer to release time...

I've always loved dinosaurs since I was a kid and I loved Jurassic Park.

I had to order one Ill! One of the most iconic scenes in modern day movies. This movie was fantastic. A real leap for effects.

The iconic part was the dead goat...I kidd.

I thought the iconic part was where he was roaring, and the banner was in the air? (The pic LCummings posted).

In truth, I bet most of these "so called" JP fans will hit the iconic cancel button if the EX exceeds 500.

I agree, the CGI in JP was perfect IMO. 1993 and nothing has come close since!

You mean LOTR's CGI didn't compair, neither did Kong's?

The Making of The Lost World by Jody Ducan provides good insight. I'm not at home at the moment to exactly reference, but the color scheme for the raptors in TLW was changed only for males, giving them a more bright and vibrant pattern akin to tiger stripes, whereas the females retained their characteristic browns and tans. The inspiration for this was carried over from modern birds and many reptile species, wherein if there is sexual dimorphism (visual differences between sexes of a given species) in terms of color, the male is invariably the more vibrant. While I have the SWS designs at home, this is the best I can do to help give you an idea.

By looking at these head comparisons you can get a good idea of the differences. It's hard to find an adequate picture of a female from TLW, in that they were generally trying to show the new and flashy males in close-ups to convey the notion of something new to the audience.

Also, I couldn't agree more about the dinosaurs being realistic in the movie, but what makes them so convincing is the combination of animatronics and CG, IMO. Just a thought, that the interactive animatronics designed by Stan Winston Studios added a crucial element to the film.

The most memorable scene for me was the first encounter with the T-rex in the rain at the fence because it looked so intensely realistic. That was entirely animatronic. If you watch the earlier scenes with the herbivorous CGI dinos, they are far less convincing.

The other scene with the T-Rex I like besides this one is when he's chasing the jeep down the road. I'm glad they went with this one though as it lets me get it and get out.

I think it'd be a cool dio to have the jeep with the fallen tree in the Rex's way with his mouth roaring wide at the jeep, that was a cool chase scene.

No, it could be almost the same size as this diorama. It'd be a long piece, but the width could be like 6 inches because the Rex's body could be the widest element really.

Yeah, it could be I suppose. I guess mentally I can't see it being that small because the jeep would need to be decent size too.

Depends on what you're looking for. If the goal is to have a dio that captures the scene, the jeep can be small, if you want a jeep where you can see some good detail, you're probably going to get too big to be reasonable.

I know it wasn't the best movie in the series but I really want a spinosaurus vs trex dio. Oh yeah! The break the neck scene was brilliant !! :monkey5:monkey5

Also, just took a closer look at the gallery on the site again.

If you look closely, you can see one of the larger teeth on the side of the jaw slicing through the raptor with ease.

Honestly, Jurassic Park has been my favorite movie since it was released. I can't begin to enumerate how much memorabilia, books, and artwork that I have, how many papers and assignments I have done pertaining to dinosaurs, and how engrossed I have been with wildlife since having seen this movie. My holy grails of my collection are works by Crash McCreery, including a rendition of the "T.rex sleeping" scene that was never released to the public. The movie proved revolutionary for my life, and I've been examining the piece painstakingly, and the sculpt is terrifically accurate! All of these inaccuracy complaints are nothing short of ludicrous for me, down to the pebbling and scars on the flesh that were on the Stan Winston animatronic. Why everyone keeps saying there should have been more cooperation with SWS is beyond me. If anything, I find there was a great deal of care put into accuractely assessing and replicating SWS designs. I understand the complaint with the teeth to a degree, but other than that it's a magnificent piece. Also, as to the accessory, I plan on draping it across the Tyrannosaur's feet to try to keep a measure of realism rather than create some makeshift stand.

Right that's why I'm thinking it will be too big but either way it would be freaking awesome.

I could live with the jeep being say the size of a matchbox, maybe slightly bigger, for me the dio would be more about showcasing the power of the Rex more than the human factor.

Yeah, the T-Rex is what would have to sell me on it.

Anything featuring the Rex and a good composition will tempt me. Even the Rex coming out of the forest extending it's head out after a Galymymus would be bad as looking if done right.
