As usual with Gareth the visuals and scale are 100% on point spectacular probably the best ever….But man that dialogue was atrocious.

Absolutely horrible dialogue.

Could pass for a Tomb Raider movie with Scarjo.
I had to watch it without sound because I'm at work, but I too got some Tomb Raider vibes when they're in the temple.

That being said, it looks awesome and most likely will check it out at the theatre.

Sorry but as much as this is intriguing I really can’t get past the stupid mutant dinosaur thing. I honestly hope I would but it looks completely generic and unnecessary. All they had to do was just add some new scary dinosaurs if they wanted to keep things fresh. There are millions of them. It’s not just trex and raptors and boom that’s it.
Just completely unnecessary honestly. But it could work but as of now I’m not to excited. Also why would spino help mosa hunt? Spino from 3 would never 😂

Jake Johnson's character says something similar in JW: That first park was just legit, you know? They didn't rely on all these genetic hybrids. They had real dinosaurs.

That quote has popped up in my head a few times in recent years. I kept thinking about it while watching JWD for the first time, attempting to accept all of the silliness. It was in my head again when we first heard rumors of a mutant dinosaur in Rebirth and then today when that rumor was confirmed.

In the first three movies, all we got was a handful of dinosaurs. But that was enough. It's all we needed. I know with Rebirth, they're trying to capture a tone that's more akin to first movie, but I can't help but feel they've missed the mark by including a mutant.
Indeed. We really only care about the T-Rex. These made-up Dinosaurs are not the main event and never will be.

Cause what even is this? Atleast the hybrids looked like dinosaurs. Eh whatever. Rant over

I've lost all and any interest in anything with Scarjo. It feels like she is just playing Black Widow in her spare time. When she's on leave from the Avengers and just wants to have some fun. Tough, emotionless Girl Boss. So yesterday.... :lol

Like others said, Tomb Raider with Dinosaurs...

I like Gareth and hope this does well for him, but looks dumb as :poop: to me... So pointless.

The visuals look good. I like Jonathan Bailey as an actor and his character looks interesting. ScarJo is generic girl boss (she has more range than this so hopefully the character is more nuanced).

The premise is awful and very video game like.... we need dna from the three biggest and most scary dinos to cure cancer or something sheesh. Hopefully that's a ruse and big pharma Burke stand-in just actually wants dna from the three biggest dinos for something else and he makes a meta comment to our heroes about how dumb they are to believe that story.

Musical score in trailer was interesting.

One of my friends said enthusiastically that it was giving him skull Kong Island vibes, but I don't want that anywhere near a Jurassic movie thank you.

The colour pallet evokes 1993 JP which is nice.

Cave troll lobstricity looks like so unimaginative. It's basically Snyder's doomsday having a baby with a cave troll whilst trying to act like a rancor.

I just hope that the movie is smarter than it looks and there are actual themes to explore. Hopefully just trying to appeal to all the dummies who like the world trilogy with this trailer. One can hope.

Getting slight xenomorph vibes from this...

I don't have an issue with mutant Dinosaurs, personally. In a world where scientists can create and grow Dinosaurs from DNA, I don't find Dinosaur mutations to be that hard to believe. It makes sense that there would be failed or alternate experiments done by InGen in the pursuit of recreating Dinosaurs for the first park. I reread the book last year and I'm pretty sure Wu/Hammond or someone mentions the different "versions" or "Dino v2.0, v3.0, v4.0" etc. process that they went through in creating the Dinosaurs. I find the concept of an island with all the "prototypes" to be quite interesting.

I would prefer there to be more "true" Dinosaurs in the movie though. Not that any of the Dinosaurs in any of the Jurassic movies have been "true" Dinosaurs to begin with.

I don't have too much to add that hasn't already been said, but here are my random initial thoughts:

-It looks visually appealing. That Titanosaurus shot alone is beautiful.
-T-Rex is scary again. The river scene is going to be awesome.
-I love the adventure feel and can't wait to see more of the abandoned InGen facilities on this island. I just hope there's a reasonable explanation of how it's remained hidden all these years.
-That Velociraptor in the glass chamber thingy has two heads.
-The mutant's design looks really bland and uninspired. They should've at least made it look like a dinosaur. I'm also not feeling the flashback scene because it looks way too sci-fi for the Jurassic franchise.
-The dialogue is a bit cringy with too many quips and sassy remarks. A far cry from the dialogue from the lunch scene in JP.
-I was talking on another forum about the Spinos and Mosa having a symbiotic relationship, and that is now confirmed. I'm not opposed to it as in the real world there are cases of animals and even insects working together, but I hope there is a believable explanation as to why these two species formed such a relationship.
-Speaking of the Spinos, I'm not 100% on board with the design. The short, thick neck looks kind of weird. I would've preferred they stuck with the JP/// Spino design. On the other hand, I am looking forward to seeing a pack of large carnivores.
-Dilophosaurus! I'll never say no to more Dilophosaurus. It's just too bad they're going with the JWD Dilo design instead of the classic JP Dilo design.
-The explanation that the dinosaurs on this island were too dangerous for the first park doesn't checkout to me. The dinosaurs in the first movie seemed plenty dangerous. I hope there's a better explanation for why this facility was abandoned and the dinosaurs left behind.

All in all, I went from being cautiously optimistic to very optimistic when we saw the photos yesterday, and now after seeing the trailer I've swung back to very cautiously optimistic :ROFLMAO:
