Re: Jurassic World

With any dangerous animal training would have to begin when they are very, very young. Not sure what the Raptor equivalent of a cub would be.

Honestly, doesnt seem like as far a credibility leap as cloning an animal extinct for 65 million years.

I'm so stoked I can't wait the sad thing is will this be the last in the franchise?

I can see training them young, but when their adults... I can't see it sticking very much. Alligators bite fingers off trainers constantly.

I'm torn if I want it to be the end or not. It really depends on how well this will be received. Although, how many times can we revisit the park? Are we going to get a Lost World Part Deux? What else is there to do with the franchise really?

Re: Jurassic World

^^ you have to think though the raptors are highly intelligent more like a dog than an alligator so I could see it

:goodpost::exactly:

No one can know what a raptor equivalent of a cub would be. Thats is unknown territory, I guess someone that knows about these animals would say it could be similar to train a hawk... thats opinion really there is no way to know

It is crazy to compare a raptor to an alligator :slap but they weren't nearly as smart as dogs, a raptor's intelligence is equivalent to a modern day ostrich, as far as scientists know...

Nice, I always loved the JP2 raptors

You're reading too much into what I said.

Re: Jurassic World

Meh, I can buy into it. You see those dudes who raise lions and polar bears from cubs like pets.

Re: Jurassic World

Loved the new trailer and can't wait for this.

I never expected this movie to have the same vibe as the original, and I really don't think it should. The direction they're going with this is IMO the logical way to go and probably what would happen in real life.

"Okay, we've brought back dinosaurs and that was cool and all, but we need something new, something even more exciting! Could we...train them? Could we make a new dinosaur, bigger and cooler than all the others?!"

I loved dinosaurs as a kid (as all children do), specifically Jurassic Park, and I think the Velociraptors were my favorite. Stan Winston's designs had so much personality. The raptors both terrified and intrigued me. I just can't wait to see these creatures that have hunted down our beloved main characters and ripped them to shreds become the "good" guys and help us hunt the abomination we've created. It's such a cool concept IMO.

Re: Jurassic World

It looks like it isn't taking itself too serious. Not sure how to feel about it tbh. I'm still way more excited than JP3. It's pretty much matching my enthusiasm for TLW, which looked like more of an action movie like this.

More over the top than cloning dinosaurs? ;)

Do these look domesticated to you?

They're not tamed. They're trained.

People train dangerous animals in real life. They're still dangerous to work with.

At least these raptors look good. Like the original film's, more so than TLW even.

So you didn't mean to compare a raptor to an alligator? good

same here!

Re: Jurassic World

I hope we get a decent amount of time to see a fully functioning Jurassic Park before it all goes to crap.

Guess I'm ok with the Raptor training, wonder how far they'll take it though.

Not mad on the idea that the new dinosaur is killing people for sport - isn't it sufficient to merely have a big scary carnivorous animal at large rather than suggesting it is in some way 'evil'? I think you need a human level of intelligence and self-awareness to be evil

Except we know animals kill for sport as well, or at least fun. They may plan on eating it in the end, but that doesn't mean the cat doesn't have fun playing with the mouse first, and we've seen plenty of videos of killer whales playing with seals before finishing them off. I assume that's what they mean by 'sport' in this context.

Re: Jurassic World

some rumors say that it has raptor , t-rex and human dna... might explain why its able to kill for sport.

Re: Jurassic World

T rex is definatly in this movie and I think it will be the dino to take I rex out. Hopefully I rex kills spino. Heard its teeth are poison to

The word tamed did not come from thin air.

However...........

New Jurassic World Photo Shows Chris Pratt Hanging Out With His Raptor

Owen (Pratt) and the raptor look pretty cozy here. It does kind of look like the raptor is photobombing him, but that’s usually an affectionate or jokey move instead of a threatening one. However, Trevorrow has previously emphasized that Owen has not tamed or befriended the raptors.

Owen’s relationship with the raptors is complicated. They aren’t friends. These animals are nasty and dangerous and they’ll bite your head off if you make the wrong move. But there are men and women out there today who have forged tenuous connections with dangerous predators. That’s interesting territory to me.

Instead, Trevorrow explained, he’s getting close to the raptors for research.

Chris Pratt’s character is doing behavioral research on the raptors. They aren’t trained, they can’t do tricks. He’s just trying to figure out the limits of the relationship between these highly intelligent creatures and human beings. If people don’t think there’s potential in those ideas, maybe they won’t like this movie. But I ask them to give it a chance.

So we were both wrong :p

On a side note I'm almost 100 percent certain that these guys got the idea from "How to Train Your Dragon".

Now that I think about it I think the concept is ok, because even the JP raptors were kinda comical and cartoony.

(The way they tap the floor with its toe as if they were thinking like a human being)

So in conclusion, the movie is ok if it's not taking itself too seriously but the trailer seems like it's trying to be

self serious which is why it kinda looks ridiculous.

Re: Jurassic World

I am fine with what they are doing with the raptors I just hope what they’re going for comes across in the movie. You do see people that work with deadly predators Crocs, big Cats etc. and its less training the creature and more learning to coexist in the animals space. If they pull it off it could be pretty interesting.

Very excited for this movie.
