Re: Jurassic World

I wasn't even able to appreciate the visuals sitting as I was on the far left of the front row. Maybe I'd have liked the film too if I'd been suitably distracted from the cheesefest it otherwise seemed to be.

Re: Jurassic World

All 3 Jurassics were on yesterday so I recorded them in a row to review.

Obvious the first is a real masterpiece of entertainment, although truthfully it runs a little slow for me.

The 2nd (Lost World) has some great lines delivered by Ian Malcolm ("I'll come back in 5 or 6 days." "No, you'll come back in 5 or 6 pieces") and that fantastic trailer sequence -- but the rest of the movie is utterly forgettable.

JP III -- which I'd forgot about entirely -- should have remained that way. Absolutely horrible movie. This is what one expects for the cheap 4th installment. Horrible casting, acting, direction, visuals, logic, silly lead dino that kills T-rex... and ... oh I just hated it.

So yeah, whoever said we should go straight from JP1 to JW -- that's perfect. TWO GREAT movies. No need for the others.

It's like dropping the PT from consciousness -- you lose nothing, and the remaining films are actually better off for it.

Just finished watching it... thought it was very mediocre. Hated all the characters. CGI looked awful, and not convincing in the least. The final battle could of been the redeeming factor to me, but they couldn't even do that right.

Well said.

So far for me this year the top 3 goes in this order:

1. JW
2. AOU
3. FR

Some say Ultron was weak, but he at least created more mayhem and was more of a challenge than IJ was.

But JW has really taken me by surprise, great rollercoaster ride.

I totally understand why some can dislike JW, that movie teeters on absurdity.

For me it never crossed that line.

Describes JW to a tee.

At least the first 3 had memorable characters.

Funny, I watched JP last night and then watched The Lost World and JPIII today. So much nostalgia in the first one, still good, even today, though I was surprised at the amount of moments played for laughs. I even remember people chuckling in the theater at the silliness of the lawyer sitting on the toilet in front of the T-Rex. But it's solid.

The Lost World was better than I remembered it, but like you said, forgettable. My kids watched it and let out a "whoa, that is cool!" when the trailer was falling around the dangling people on the rope but they struggled to stay interested in it after that and ended up saying that the movie overall was "kinda boring."

JPIII. Just terrible. Awful, AWFUL cast, sacrilegious T-Rex scene, and the direct opposite of the JW finale. If Colin Trevorrow tried to conceive of the most amazing dino climax imaginable it's almost like Joe Johnston literally did the opposite. "What's the STUPIDEST way we can end a movie? I know! Let's have the super dinosaur that can take a T-Rex with a flick of its neck just be afraid of fire and run away! Then let's have the heroes surrounded by Raptors, just like the end of JP1 and, let's see, what's better than a T-Rex showing up and eating the Raptors? I've got it! A whistle! They blow a whistle and the Raptors just...leave."

So terrible. One "series" I'll never buy a box set of. I've got JP1 on 3D blu-ray and will do the same when JW comes out.

The only thing that occurred to me while watching TLW and JPIII is that it did give us an epilogue of what happened to all the major players of JPI. I do kind of hope that for Jurassic World 2 we see Grant, Sattler, and Malcolm's reactions to the news footage on TV or something.

Who was memorable in 3 other than Alan Grant and that's only because the character was so good in the first one. His performance in 3 wasn't anything to write home about.

Whoa! I'm surprised! But right on! :duff

I'd go:

1. FR
2. JW
3. AoU

I'll re-evaluate Ex Machina again when I catch it on blu to see where I think it stacks up overall but for summer entertainment those are how I rank the big three.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a positive review from some members hear, granted I only visit blockbuster threads typically but it's always negative from some members

Re: Jurassic World

Funny how the $200 million weekend instantly brought out the trolls. Gotta get that post count up in the thread that everyone is reading huh? :lol

Every message board has "that guy" or group of guys. I post on a few different type of forums....here, hockey forum, political forum and so on. Every board has people who are overly negative about pretty much everything. Every board has people who think they're professional comedians. Every board had people who post GIFs in response to almost everything. It's just the internet. You have to wade through all the **** to get to what you're looking for.

The usual blockbuster review process...

1. Lovers love
2. Haters hate
3. Lovers bash haters
4. Haters bash lovers
5. There's no middle ground...:lol
