Re: Jurassic World

Irvy lives in a place where puppies eat people the second they don't feel like listening to humans. You need to move dude, or at the very least call Animal Control.

This film turned bad guys into allies just like Terminator 2, but unlike T2 it had the balls to keep the Raptors scary. No "he'll live" nonsense, no they were still frighteningly lethal at a moment's notice.

I still can't believe this movie gave us simultaneous evil/heroic Raptors while keeping them deadly on both sides of the fence, just wow.

That actually follows how the movie itself straddled being thrilling instead of eye rolling.

Going to this movie spoiler free definately helped up the enjoyment.

I knew what was coming, but it was nice not knowing the exact details.

Re: Jurassic World

Spoilers are running rampant in here. Guess I better excuse myself. Gentlemen :wave.

Re: Jurassic World

Having said all of this... JW seemed to be saying TLW and JPIII never happened.

I'm not sure it does rule them out but then so much of what I've taken away from this film needs further clarity. I will say, if you're a sequel and you think enough of yourself to associate with the original while disregarding the others then you better damn well be good *cough*TerminatorGenisys*cough*

Just WOW!

Industry calculations tonight are pointing toward an opening weekend of $200M for Universal’s Jurassic World, which would make it the second biggest domestic opening of all-time behind The Avengers’ $207.4M all-time title.

In regards to premium large format theaters, JW is looking to have a share of 9% of the weekend B.O. with $17.5M, which would best Avengers: Age of Ultron‘s record of $13M.

Jurassic World
is taking a bite of box office history. It’s already Universal’s biggest opening night and biggest opening ever. It’s already the biggest June opener. And now it could become the No. 2 opening of all time, behind only The Avengers. This movie garnered an A CinemaScore and is playing incredibly strong. The studio can thank this entertaining romp for giving it the lead in marketshare for the year so far, too.

Much like what the movie gets at I really didn't think anyone cared about seeing regular CGI dinosaurs again in the post-Pacific Rim, post-Godzilla2014 world. Obviously the film has done something right.

Re: Jurassic World

Where was all the animatronic dinos they kept banging on about?

The only obvious one was that dying apatosaurus that looked like an elderly E.T.

P.S. You're supposed to feel emotional at that part cos the business lady does some good pantomime crying .

Re: Jurassic World

I know I will love this movie with multiple viewings on blu ray but isn't JW the exact same movie as JW? I mean take the older brother out and replace him with a older sister, sending them to a park to meet a family member running the park, control park goes to ****, sick/dying dinosaur lying on the ground, two kids stuck in a jeep/bubble with a big dinosaur trying to eat them through glass, raptors jumping on a bigger dinosaurs back. It even ends on the exact same note with the TREX roaring. I mean you could actually place JPLW & JP3 right after JW and it would work the exact same as 14 years ago. JW2 could start off with saying that JW was the showroom Site B was the factory floor and we would say...."OK"

I thought that was a great scene.

The apatosaurus was the only animatronic seen in the final movie. I believe the actors had model dinos on set as a reference point only.

Re: Jurassic World

It was stated somewhere that InGen/or the Masrani corp. cleaned up the island soon after the events of JP.

Missed that part... Makes sense

Why wouldn't they have cleaned up the parts from JP1, I find it hard to believe that a corporation wouldn't have used that space for more profits.

Agreed. In JP that was the ideal location for HQ of the park. So what not used that location

Makes sense except that it seems to ignore 2 and 3.... Which in the scheme of things is fine.... I love TLW but not enough to demand that the memory of JPIII be kept alive :)

Re: Jurassic World

It seems that most are content going straight from JP1 to JW.

I just remember JP3 being horrible and JP2 being just barely ok.

Re: Jurassic World

There you go Gruson, confirmed:

HOLY CRAP!

Doubling the original weekend estimate proffered by Universal Jurassic World is now coming in at a reported $204.6M ($204,596,380) for its opening weekend, the 2nd biggest of all time, taking an Express Pass by this May's Avengers: Age of Ultron ($191.2M) and almost catching Marvel's The Avengers ($207.4).

World, which nicely also doubled as a confirmation that Chris Pratt is an A-list lead, pulled in a healthy $47.8K per theater in 4,274 venues. That number just makes it the best top weekend theater averageover The Avengers' $47.7K average.

Not only is Jurassic World the biggest opening weekend that Universal has ever had (the next closest film is Furious 7 with $147.1M) it's the biggest that co-financier Legendary has ever had, which includes the Dark Knight films.

Jurassic World outperformed even the most optimistic of forecasts for the last four days, surprising nearly everyone. Its $82.8M Friday was the third best Friday opening on record, with only Age of Ultron ($84.4M) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 ($91M) still ahead of it.

Re: Jurassic World

So happy for Universal that Fast and Furious is not their king of movies. :lol

This opening is mind blowing, a 4th in a series following 2 crappy movies.

Truly mind blowing what just happened here.

Re: Jurassic World

Wow...if this abomination made that much money and almost beat The Avengers (2012) opening record, Star Wars is going to demolish it even if the film sucks, since apparently the audience doesn't care about quality anymore. :monkey2

The I-Rex's head when Owen was hiding under the truck looked like an animatronic. If it wasn't, then the CGI on that bit was pretty flawless.

Re: Jurassic World

Really good film imo, as far as blockbuster films nowadays this is one of the better ones.

Not sure how a sequels gonna work tho.

Re: Jurassic World

I think Jurassic World deserves everything it gets. Best fun I've had at a movie in quite a while. It is what it is, and does it brilliantly.

Re: Jurassic World

y animatronic seen in the final movie.

The Raptor heads in the clamps were animatronic as well.
