Yeah they're a lot worse...don't you see the folly, Khev, in rating a third sequel above the original? CGI is one of the most awesome forces the movie world has ever seen and yet they wield it like a kid that's found his dad's gun

Yep, CGI is too powerful, economical, and easy for some directors to resist, to the point that they use it on things that could have been done with practical effects. That's the sad thing about CGI.

C'mon, that CGI bird hopping around in the snow in the beginning of the movie was so necessary and real looking! All the CGI served a purpose in the movie and gave Ice Age's effects a run for it's money.

I don't see it being as big as some people expect it too. The fans are all saying it'll be the biggest box office hit ever and non-fans don't seem interested at all. The bulk of it's money is gonna come from repeat viewings from fans but does SW really have that many fans??

I say this not to bait an argument or "flame" fans, just curious if anyone has any solid numbers on the fanbase or interest levels cause I'm not seeing it from anyone but on these boards and comic "news" sites that are 99% fans already of this stuff.

We will see BUT I think the hardcore fan base will make it huge initially but JW is a perfect storm right now coming out of nowhere...I think even if TFA is good it will deal with Winter weather in alot of the US and may keep numbers down(I know didn't stop Avatar).
A New SW is great but I'm not sure it will do as well as people think( I thought AoU would easily beat Avengers numbers and it isn't even close!)

My opinion Disney made a GIGANTIC mistake not releasing TFA in May or June..GIGANTIC mistake as far as tradition and potential box office numbers

I assumed AOU would trounce everything this summer and also beat the original's takings. It created too much of a mixed response and I really don't think it helped that with 3 and 4 already announced AOU felt somewhat 'small fries'.
