She really is horrible. There's nothing fun or interesting, she has no big moment where she saves the day or does something even remotely helpful, she screams and can't fend for herself, she's just there. Even Willie in Temple of Doom got a cool moment when she punched that guy in the face and derailed his mine cart.

Is this common in America? If anyone clapped in a UK cinema, there would be the most awkward reaction to it.

People applaud at my local theaters whenever they think the movie is good. Last couple of movies that I was at that they applauded were Avengers AoU and this one. I'm sure there was applause at Furious 7 and Mad Max. I missed Mad Max. :(

I saw part of Wild Hogs last night on AMC. When I went to see this in the theater, it not only sold out, but I remember how everyone applauded after it. I'm sure there are some of you who would think that is a real joke. (I loved the movie, btw. :lol )

Count me in the "okay with it" group :lol

Me too, in fact I found it to be the film's saving grace when I saw it in the theater. Everything on the island seemed so derivative to me. The signature action sequence was just another T-Rex attack on a vehicle before it goes over a cliff. I was about to be pretty let down by the familiar and anti-climactic vibe of the whole movie until Rex showed up in San Diego. That was cool. The running Japanese tourists got a big laugh in my theater too.
