I have mentioned this before. Being a huge fan of all three JP movies I elected NOT to tease myself with anything (trailers, images, synopsis etc) from JW. I watched JW fresh folks. How many out there did the same? I sat in the theatres and had the movie tell me the story for the first time (not the trailers)

What I loved (because we have never seen this in a JP movie before)

John Hammond’s vision come to life. The realism of every detail on how it would exist today (ie Starbucks, Prada etc) Like our Vega today. Even the petting zoo.
Mosasaurus – I have waited three movies for a water dinosaur (dream come true). I just wish we saw more of it.
Raptors running full speed

What I didn’t care for (Because I seen it in the first JP movie before)

Two siblings
Two siblings sent to a park run by a family member
Two siblings being attached in a vehicle by a dinosaur with only a sheet of glass between them
Dinosaur laying down dying and human standing over them
Raptors jumping on a bigger Dinosaur
Control room Atmosphere
Park going to ****
T-Rex roaring scene in the end

Might have missed others

What I hated

Indominus Rex (aka Frankensaur)
Look I can change my heat signature (when needed)
Look I can Camafloge (when needed)
Look I can talk Raptor (when needed)
Trained Raptors
Idea of Dinosaurs being used for army purposes

I can take talking toys, Fish searching for his son, house sailing in the air with thousands of ballons but when you have a rat controlling a guys limbs to cook while he is sleeping by pulling his hair………..you have gone too far!

BOTTOM LINE: Army dinosaurs / Frankensaurs does not excite me in the direction my once loved JP is going.

You guys must just be ahead of the curve, because I don't think JW will have lasting appeal, but I did love my experience seeing it the one time. Really haven't had such fun at the theater in a long time. Well, since Fury Road. :lol But before that I'd have to go all the way back to Winter Soldier.

Jurassic World did indeed have a few dodgy visuals. The extended close-up of Pratt on the bike with the raptors' heads in frame with him for one. Overall though I did think the "night time" CGI was fantastic but the daytime visuals did look a bit cartoony at times (particularly when Pratt was doing his famous "hands up" scene to keep the raptors at bay.)

That just shows how amazing the CGI is in the 1993 original, still to this day. The raptors circling the group before the T-Rex saves them are still pretty damn photo real.

But if I'm going to complain every time I see a movie with dodgy visuals here and there I might as well stop watching LOTR and should just right off The Terminator and JAWS for good.

It won't but neither does TLW or JP3 short of nostalgia. The only reason I'll still occasionally watch JP3 is because it reminds me of being on vacation at Jurassic Park in Orlando at the time and seeing the premiere there.

Also, saw Fury Road again 2 nights ago and still love it. :lol 3rd viewing. Star Wars is the only thing that seems like it could have a shot at taking it down from my favorite film this year.

But Shrek, the device that gave us dinosaurs originally was genetics -- a vastly underused premise with endless possibilities -- so it was inevitable that they go back to the core premise and "play with it". Genetically modified dinosaurs is an interesting idea to me. I think they have room still to go even further with this idea.

I will still be there first day to buy JW on Blu ray. I know after multiple viewings I will ignore the elements that bothered me the first time and enjoy JW for what it is. Very similar to AVP. I was sooooo dissappointed after watching this in theatres. But with multiple viewings AVP has one of the best repeat viewing in my collection.

It's definitely better than TLW and JP3 :yuck but I've only seen it once. I'll probably see it again sometime next week.

I like AvP but it's heavily focused on the predators. I didn't like that

Yup, every showing people clapped.

Imax 3D certainly enhanced this movie.

My almost 7 year old wasn't afraid in this, I say he's ready for Afghanistan.

I'm thinking about going for 4th viewing.

I found myself originally skeptical about the movie because the "blockbusters" that come out now are pretty terrible but as we got closer and closer to opening day I couldn't contain being enthusiastic about it.

After the 1st viewing I was surprised it was better than I figured it would be (although that bar was relatively low, lol).
I was *genuinely* surprised I enjoyed it more after the 2nd viewing.

I have a long laundry list of complaints but I think it boils down to really wanting to see dinosaurs on the big screen. So I gotta mention the lack of practical effects. I acknowledge that CGI is pretty good but I rarely beats something real. I was so disappointed to find out the raptors in the transport cages had really been made but they put so many layers of CGI on top you lost all the realism and hard work to make them.

There was applause all three times I saw JW but I must admit that there was the one guy who kept shouting "oh come on!" and "worst movie ever!" I was so surprised to hear someone have that opinion that I took it upon myself to snap a quick picture of him out in the lobby.
