JL is really starting to ruin BvS because it's certainly not supporting it any.

So WB confused audience members with that vision in BvS for nothing.

Supposedly Darkseid will not even be the main villain anymore it will be the LOD.

Lois was the key she was the "big gun".

I read that Darkseid will be the big bad in the 3rd JL movie and i don't mind that no need to rush the best villain in comic book history.

I thought they meant Batman would have to stop the Joker from murdering Lois for Superman not to blame Batman for her death.

That's an excellent reason for Superman wanting to kill Batman.

Instead in JL we get no reason why he wants to kill Batman.

And didn't BvS specifically have Lex turn the painting upside down to foreshadow demons coming from the sky? Then in JL all the parademons come out of that big smokestack in the ground so they didn't even get that right, lol.

That's in the anime/comics not sure if that is what they meant in this movie. I just assumed she was the key to snap Sups out of his confusion in this movie that made sense to me.

Look in my day ROTJ came and ruined Han Solo, Darth Vader, and Boba Fett in one fell swoop! And then Alien 3 completely erased Hicks, Newt, and everything that *that* franchise had going for it. "On earth everyone can hear you scream" my ass! But that's the way it was and we liked it!

Yeah ROTJ deserved a score of 5 on RT if you care about that sort of thing

Jaws Khev thanks for that great Avengers, AOU and JL debate great read.

When JL is out on bluray (who knows what cut lol) we will have our epic triple back to back viewing showdown to see who wins the crown (not the crows or the clown but the crown) of best team up movie of primary heroes.

We will do it at my house just wear bullet proof vests you’ll be fine lol

Ironwez said something very critical here about JL.

It is embarrassing that Marvel found more success with a stupid cgi Racoon and cgi Tree than WB did with the JL.

Let me say that again it is worth repeating...

A cgi racoon and cgi tree, A GODDAMN CGI TREE NAMED GROOT, MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN BATMAN SUPERMAN WONDER WOMAN FLASH AND AQUAMAN!!!!

Until I watch JL a 2nd time it remains in 3rd place behind Avengers and AOU.

So right now for me:

1. Avengers
2. AOU
3. JL

I need to see it again to grasp the totality of its dysfunction.

It might jump past AOU but Avengers will be a tough one to beat.

Just got back from my second viewing and I enjoyed it even more. The action scenes are great and are some of the best Team Work action in either Universe.

Sound was much better in this theater and I could hear the music much better.. I personally love hearing the Superman Theme the two big moments the use it... My fav being when he first shows up to the final battle

Picture was better also... My goodness that Lip is BAD.. No question that all Superman Scenes (except for maybe some of the resurrection fight) was all reshoots... Ultimately I did not care as it was just so damn refreshing to see Superman be the hero he is supposed to be... Laughing with Cyborg is pretty bad though..

All other CGI is not that bad.. I think people are overreacting... It was at least as good as Thor 3 CG.. AND all the action was better then anything Thor 3 had to offer accept for the two Zeppelin scenes.. I swear most of that was because of the music...

I don;t get the hate on Batman.. He should never have been shooting a alien gun.. That was goofy but his "yeah I am defiantly bleeding" is a good reaction to Supermans question... But Batman holds his own in these fights and saves a team member or two during this..

However most all the other criticism leveled at this film is accurate.. It just does not bother me.. As I have said, its a Saturday morning cartoon and I am fine with that..

Wait, what...? "Avengers will be tough to beat" by JL? Isn't Avengers like a 10/10 SW OT/LOTR level movie for you? While you were literally just comparing JL to B&R and AOTC a few days ago? How could it possibly be up in the air as to how Avengers and JL will compare to each other then?

*I* don't love The Avengers like you guys but I know that it's pretty much worshipped here. To me there's this ever so small little cluster of cbm's that are truly great "films" (Nolan trilogy, TWS, I'd probably even concede to Logan being on the list) but then all the other ones are just fluffy popcorn-y movies that I can sometimes geek out about while realizing that they really are just a bunch of silly superhero movies, nothing more.

So for me I have no problem lumping the Avengers, JL, Ragnarok, hell even Schumacher Batman movies all onto the same pile. I mean really does anyone here actually "hate" Batman & Robin? Really despise it as a film? I've always gotten the vibe that it's kind of this lovable disaster, funny and even downright entertaining in its badness (not unlike a Tommy Wiseau picture.) I guess I do elevate certain films for being iconic (STM, B89) or game-changing but otherwise they're all pretty interchangeable depending on my mood at any given time.

So yeah I can easily throw JL on top of the "non-Nolan/TWS" pile on any given day but I'm shocked that you would even consider it after reading your reviews of both the original Avengers and JL itself.

You know When I "think" about Avengers I think about the cheap look the film looks and I sometimes think perhaps its not that good.. The only reason I speak so highly of it is because every time I actually sit to watch it I fully enjoy it 100% Way too many classic great moments... Oh and its probably the only Marvel film with a recognizable Hero theme.

As pure Comic Book fun... Avengers is King.

TWS and The Dark Knight are the Better films but Avengers captures the feeling of reading an actual comic more then any other of the DC and MARVEL films IMO.

I know I just couldn't resist acting shocked that you'd even entertain the thought of comparing JL to Avengers.



Yes that's why Avengers will never make it anywhere near the top of any of my cbm lists that are measured on quality. With regard to cinematic significance though it probably is #1. Not even for superheroes or cbm's even because Avengers has even impacted other genres like kaiju and classic horror with regard to "shared universes."

As you know I've never been one to demand that all genre films be TDK or BR 2049. It's an epic treat when they are that awesome and well made from a filmmaking standpoint but since I watch and enjoy all kinds of films from pretty much every genre I'm totally fine with alternating between movies that are:

1. Entertaining and Awesome (ESB, FOTR, BR 2049)

2. Entertaining but Not Awesome (RoboCop 2, Escape from LA, Suicide Squad, JL)

3. And then those films that are Awesome but really only "Entertaining" or watchable when I'm really in the mood for them (this is where most "classic" films would go like Godfather or Casablanca, or things like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Memento, and Boyhood.)

And it seems like so many people on the internet want and even demand that all films fall into Group 1 (entertaining and awesome.) And those are indeed the best movies but *so* much fun can be had with the films in Group 2, hell probably 90% of the entire MCU would fit there. And Group 3 is great but those aren't the films that I geek out about, buy figures for, etc.

So once I realize which group a film falls in (like JL clearly being in the "entertaining but not awesome" category) then I can just sit back and enjoy it on those merits without raging over the fact that it isn't in Group 1. Because at the end of the day few movies are.

This is a fantastic post... I agree with the whole "Awesome / Entertaining... Not Awesome / but entertaining thing you are saying..

Accept for putting Escape from LA in Not Awesome but Entertaining.. I would put that in the Not Awesome and not Entertaining section
