If this bars Simmons from returning as Jameson in Spiderman I am unhappy about this. Kurt Russell would have been great since he has been mentioned.

I wonder who Spiderman will get to play Jameson. It's going to be tough to top Simmons... hell, they may not even have the Daily Bugle featured as a job for Peter in this new film since he's so young?

I feel like the only thing barring Simmons from playing JJ again is Simmons playing JJ in the first place. Honestly, it's unprecedented. None of the Marvel movies have featured actors reprising their roles from non-MCU films, so, why the Internet would assume that Simmons as JJ would be the exception is beyond me.

I wouldn't want JK returning to play JJJ even if he got an offer to, he should stay Raimi's version of JJJ and Sony/Marvel should hire someone new for their universe.

I hear that Batgirl watches him get sucked into a hurricane. It's supposedly a five-minute montage accompanied by flashbacks of his accomplishments set to the actual song "Hurricane" by Bob Dylan.

It's the Internet, brother. Hopes become assumptions all too quick. For the record, though, I was talking more about all these movie news sites that took some fan petition and ran with it.
