DC/WB is impatient. Marvel reaped the benefits of their multi-year, multi-film build up to Avengers. They will have four more movies building up to the release of the sequel to the biggest comic book movie ever, and one of the biggest, period.

DC will be introducing a new Batman, probably a new Green Lantern after a flop, a new Wonder Woman after a failed attempt at a pilot, and may or may not use the new and still untested Superman.

All of this with no involvement from a mastermind like Nolan or Whedon, and no director for a film that they want to release in just over a year and a half.

My money is on Marvel.

Of course, Marvel has the overall advantage because they have already proven that they can do it. But there is a chance that DC can compete IMO. They have the advantage in terms of character recognition with Bats and Superman, and if it is made the right way and marketed correctly it could really do some damage at the BO. Unfortunately, I don't have much faith in DC's ability to make a great film here, since they've been good at nothing apart from Nolan Batman in recent memory, and they have not been nearly as forward thinking as Marvel in their filmmaking strategy.

I guess I am taking for granted Marvel's previous success in keeping movies fresh and appealing. But there is no guarantee that will continue. Big companies tend to get more conservative when there is more money at stake, and that could mean sub-par movies, depressing interest in an Avengers sequel.

But if DC's idea of fresh and innovative is Jonah Hex, Green Lantern, and teen soap opera TV show fare, well. . .

Fixed. ;)

:exactly:

DC might do well as those movies might seem fresh compared to Marvel sequels.

This.

........

Fat chance in hell. They're going to have a team movie full of actors playing parts people have zero investment in. That's going up against an established franchise that set the gold standard, repeatedly, for superhero movies. I don't even think they could pull it off with Nolan and Bale involved.

so..............will Wonder Woman mess with Batman or Superman in this movie series?????

Batman too? Wonder Woman's been busy! :rotfl

WB is going to f this up royally. Since they already have a release date, and yet no cast, director, confirmed script, etc. everything will be rushed to meet the expected date.

Putting it up against Avengers 2 is just stupid **** swinging, IMO. They want to compete with Marvel, but are going about it the wrong way. I have no faith in WB. None.

WB should take a deep breath and rethink this.

They have a new Superman. Let's assume they keep him.

They could put together a Wonder Woman film based on Weadon's screenplay (if own it). That gives them a story they could put into production within the next year. Rumor has it she appears in Man of Steel. A WW film is long past due.

Introduce the new Batman in a "Trinity" style film. Put off a full JLA for a few years and build up these three characters.

DC has the benefit of having well known characters, though. I can see the thought process with wanting to get the Justice League film off the ground first. I'm not trying to dog Marvel's characters or anything, but, before the MCU started, more people could probably tell you who The Flash was than they could Iron Man. The MCU kind of had to happen to allow people to get to know the characters. DC's roster is instantly recognizable.

I just hope that they do it well. I can see why they wouldn't want to do the "build-up" process that Marvel did, but I can't see them rushing it and making a ****ty film. Now, onto the important stuff, I wonder if it'll beat The Avengers at the box office. :p Seriously, though, this could be a step in the right direction for DC. Characters like Wonder Woman and The Flash have been stranded in the Hollywood phantom zone forever, and a JL film could introduce and set the groundwork for those characters, so as to provide a little push for DC and WB to get a move on in regards to their solo projects.

If they haven't already, they will probably back the Brinks truck up into Nolan's driveway in order for him to helm Justice League. I know he said he's done, but he said the same thing after BB, and yet again after TDK.

They'll back up they brinks truck and ask permission to put his name on it. They'll ask him to be one of the Executive Producers who do nothing but are a bankable name on a movie poster.

They already approached him about producing it and he said he wants nothing to do with it.

Or the flip side, they dump $200mil into it expecting it to be their "Avengers," do a horrible, halfassed misinterpretation of every hero in their rush to get it out and it and it literally kills any and all franchises attached to it. If there's anything WB doesn't understand, it's their superheroes.
