Though Superman and Batman are so well known with a total between them of 13 films that there s no need to reintroduce them for JL beforehand.

I think they need to reintroduce them ... but not necessarily an origin story. As far as I'm concerned, Batman Begins is the definitive Batman origin ... no need for another. I'm open to a redone Superman origin because its been 25 years since the last one, and a lot's changed.

Either way, I don't think it'd be as good for the first appearance of an actor as Superman or Batman to be in a JL movie. Those two are big enough that they need their own franchise, and deserve their own universe separate from the Justice League ... and it works better if you establish that universe for that actor before establishing the JL. Starting them in a JL movie, and then spinning them off into their own franchise shortchanges them too much. They have to preexist the Justice League.

I'm fine with Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy and Snyder's Man of Steel being lead-ins though.

GL was originally written for Jack Black to star.
No way - I can totally see that!!! :horror :rotfl :rotfl :lol :rotfl :rotfl

..& I wholeheartedly agree guys, GL was woeful - bar a few scenes on Oa & Sinestro related scenes. Reynolds was completely miscast, as were some of the other casting choices, the bad chemistry between RR & Blake, Kilowog's gangsta speak.. ughhh. :monkey4

If they reboot GL, they've got to at least look like they give a **** next time. :lol

Reynolds was the least of its problems. A horrible script was the real issue.

Yup, that made it doubly painful. A perfectly cast, fantastic performance wasted.

I have no particular interest in GL but if this is the case that one of the actors was perfectly suited to his role, while the film overall blew chunks, I think they should still keep that actor for the next attempt - even if it disregards the other film completely. Likewise the guy who played Jonah Jameson in the Raimi Spidermans. He should be kept regardless that its an entirely new continuity in the Garfield Spiderman films.

The final product still shows a lot of influence from the comedy script. GL needs a re-cast.

I'd rather see a World's Finest film. They can do a JL film later.

Just seeing the supposed Nolan news. I'm a bit torn on it. If true, will probably be a good movie, but pretty damn unlike the Justice Leagues that I like most in comics and cartoon media. We'll see. Makes perfect sense that WB would try this.

Mark Strong was superb. Such a wasted opportunity not to do more or go further with him. He would rival the best baddies the Marvel flicks have to offer, and would give us DC guys more than just Ledger's Joker to brag about.

Speaking of The Joker, if they do end up continuing with Nolan and Bale's establishment, am I the only one concerned about a World's Finest/Justice League without any presence of The Joker? He's a pretty grand villain to not include in some capacity. I suppose they could just recast after all. All bets would be off anyway.

If Nolan is involved, I fear he may not recast the Joker, since that seems to be a touchy subject with him. That would be unfortunate. let hope That's not the case.

Casting decisions would likely be Snyder's, not Nolan's.

Joker isn't as big a deal for a Justice League movie anyway. He's a Batman villain, not a JL villain. Justice needs something bigger.

Joker's not really necessary for a Justice League movie. He can be made to work, but is not essential by any stretch IMO.

Right, but I wasn't really commenting on that (good) point. It's a relevant topic to be sure, just not something I was addressing.
