uh oh now your gonna get it......
NO!
That has to be on the down low!
(I even hid the bag under the car seat.)
I will!
Good for you! My wife has been under her goal weight since last August, so I really do understand what an accomplishment that was for you.
And you are certainly entitled to do what you think is best for you. It's just that when I read things that sound (to me) like they are glib or flippant comments about obesity, it's kind of a touchy subject for me, for reasons that I'd rather not go into here. But suffice it to say that, while it may be okay to indulge in an occasional "bad thing", you still need to recognize that something as out-of-balance on the fat scale as the Double Down may not add an inch to your waist, but it could contribute to other health problems.
First off, hi RoboDad! Nice to see you outside the Photography thread!
I have been enjoying your posts here (someone needs to add an air of dignity here ).
But, I would just like to make the point that to pick on this sandwich is kind of silly. I know it seems funny because it's meat on meat, but the nutrition facts are pretty much on par with most fast food sandwiches. I don't see this is any more dangerous for my heart than a lot of fast food.
Gonna do a fact check on this later...
..........
uh oh now your gonna get it......
I checked it out. The worst part about it is that it's sodium content is almost at what you should have in an entire day. Other than that and some bad trans fats I'm still down for it. I love salt!
It really is! Vegetable oil is the worst fat or grease you can eat!
Oooooooooo.......I hope so!
when building a nation you want gold, grains and salt......so there you go....
could be true because you usually want to use olive oil if you use an oil but lard has to be worse.....doesn't it?
again, sound logic.......i cannot debate this.
Lard is better than vegetable, but not better than olive oil. Lard does contain Omega-3s by the way.
Non-violence and mass quantities of salt is the key to peace my friend. For that the double down should be worshiped and applauded for it's peace making qualities.

Have you had one yet?
It is really, really, really, salty... like, to a fault.
In terms of taste though that's the only fault.
And I also want to make it clear that I am not trying to pass judgment on anyone. There was a time when I was working on a project with a group of programmers (back in my younger, more foolish days ), and we were more-or-less sequestered in a house for a period of about 2 months. "Fortunately" for us, there was a Jack-in-the-Box just down the street, and they had just introduced the Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger. It got to the point where we were practically living off of those (sometimes having them for lunch AND dinner). That is not something I would recommend to anyone today, however .
That's a reasonable point. I can't really say why this particular sandwich has me so bothered. Maybe it is just the fact that it is getting so much "praise" right now. But you are absolutely correct that there are far worse fast food menu items out there. However, with that said, saying that there are worse things doesn't really make the Double Down "good". It would be like saying that it is worse for you to point a loaded .45 caliber pistol at your forehead and pull the trigger than it would be to use a .22, if you take my meaning
Nice! Reminds me of a couple Hardee's/Carl's Jr. Monster Burgers I've had back in the day...
I get the point, but it's not a totally fair analogy as both of those kill you instantly.
When it comes to what you chose to eat and the effect it will have on your heart/health it is not about individual meals but rather life style.
Yes, someone who consistently eats unhealthily is more likely to eat a Double Down/McGriddle/Wopper, but it's not as if an individual who normally eats healthily is going to keel over from eating one of these - nor will they shorten their lifespan one day as long as they, for the most part, stick to their healthy lifestyle.
