Now that many of us (me included) feel that SSC is charging a little too much, how about adding more accessories to their product. More interchangeable hands for Ki?

was stoked to see Ki getting made. Ordered with great excitement only to cancel it now that i had time to look at the pics.

I'm chiming in with the rest. If the product is not up to specs i'm going to pass. There's too much great stuff coming in that needs our mula.

I'm not one of those that cries "OMG Hasblo!" everytime an SSC Star Wars figure doesn't come out perfect, but in this case I really do think the Hasbro version may be superior.

I'm as big a fan as anyone for Hasbro, but lets not get crazy.

The SSC version has a far superior outfit.

And while the head is big, SSC's has a much more detailed and realistic sculpt. The Hasbro lacks texture.

Its just I can't justify this figure for $70. Even on the prometheous, I couldn't do it.

Obscure characters need to be priced LESS not more for me to be interested.

I think when people are talking about Hasbro being superior, it's obvious that they're talking about the sculpt and not the clothes or body. The Hasbro head is a little soft in terms of detail, but it looks a lot more like the character to me.

shouldn't that be the other way around? more known characters are gonna be made in larger editions therefore able to have lower price?

Not when I don't care about edition sizes.

Its like buying anything, the more I like it, the more I'm willing to pay.

With limited shelf space and the number of different lines out there, obscure characters need an incentive and "its more limited" isn't one of them for me.

From SSC's perspective, I can see why they'd charge more for an item with a smaller run (economies of scale, etc) but its a two sided coin...lower price=sell more=larger run

To me it doesn't look far superior except for the boots. The sculpt is also very nice on the Hasbro and doesn't make him look like a zombie.

I agree. I've seen the Hasbro repainted and it looks much better than the SS sculpt.

I guess "far" is a subjective term. I own the Hasbro (thanks to Pix) and the vest is a thick fleece and the tunic is a flimsy seethrough silky material.

Honestly, its one of the better Hasbro figs, but its not the quality of SSC clothing.

The tailoring at the cuffs is particularly better on the Sideshow.

Also, the material of the tunic itself looks of much higher quality. Then again, who knows if thats what we'll see on the final product.

That repaint does look nice but there's not a chance in hell the Hasbro figure touches anything from the big three.

I just had such high expectations for Ki Adi Mundi. I hope I'm not selling it short prematurely. (After all, it IS entirely possible that Sideshow's photos aren't up to snuff.) But I really wanted to be wowed by what I saw.

My initial reaction may have been exaggerated a bit by my disappointment. It certainly isn't horrible. But the individual elements (body, clothing and headsculpt), while good on their own, just don't add up to form an impressive figure. And that's too bad. Because this character deserved a better group effort from the entire team.

I hope it's not to late for Sideshow to make some adjustments. But if what we've seen here is the final product, I'll sadly have to leave this one out of the Jedi collection.

When you consider $15 for a Hasbro and then $35 for a repaint, you're only $20 away for the Sideshow. I definately think the improvements to the cloth is worth $20.

That said, I still wouldn't feel justified going for the SSC.

Make Ki Adi a $55 figure, I'd be all over it.

the clothes and belt look fine to me.

the sculpt is great!! The size of the head compared to the body is a bit off... but the figure is so plain is a shocker.

The sculpt is good technically, but it looks WAY older (and fatter) than the guy that actually appeared in the film.

If I decide to go with the Hasbro figure, I would be repainting it myself, so there's not really any cost involved. The only question is the body and clothes. I have extra bodies I can use, and if there are parted-out outfits available, I could probably get a complete figure for considerably less than the Sideshow one.

Ultimately it's not the cost that annoys me. It's paying more for a sculpt that I don't like as well.

I like SS's sculpt. If it were proprtioned properly I wouldn't even consider replacing it with the Hasbro one. Just looking at the pics though I think the Hasbro sculpt with a nice repaint looks closer to movie accurate than SS's.
