I really like it. He will look really unique among the other Jedi.

looks great!! I really like this figure!

You guys make me feel like a jerk. Wor-Gar and King Darkness too. :monkey2

I think the costume and sculpt are killer. I don't know why I can't get past how it all fits together.

He won't get cancelled, because I have faith that what I'll receive will make me extremely happy. It always does. But damn, these pictures are rough.

He doesn't come with THE HAT...

Does seem a little rushed, but the sculpt is great...

Boots do look a tad small, but I'msure he'll look great...

Lines up pretty good really.

People who think the head is too tall are kidding themselves, as this guy had a seriously tall head. But as several people have pointed out, I think it would look better if the head wasn't so "thick" looking, as in the photoshopped version below.

I like it, but will wait to buy it. I know that I can pick it up later down the road for much less than $70. I've noticed that as time passes some of these figures lose their "value" ,so to speak.I like this figure a lot , but not at $70.

Ok. Call me a conspiracy freak, but SSC has a win win here with a TBD edition size and high price.

1)They price it at $70 and sell a boat load. $$$$$
or
2)The poorer collectors (like me) pass and the figure ends up getting a small edition size and sky rockets on the aftermarket thus making SSC look good.

SSC is going to make sure that important characters are priced nice (with high edition sizes) to keep the large base happy, but I think by listing obscure characters "TBD" and pricing them at premiums (compare the accessories of ANH Luke vs Ki Adi and Aayla) is really shrinking the particular market for that character.

I always thought less important characters should be priced LOWER thus encouraging MORE PEOPLE to buy. But Ki Adi is the complete opposite, using ANH Luke and Han as a basis point, SSC is actually DISCOURAGING people from buying an already obscure Ki Adi.

You seem to be making the assumption that the prices of the recent Luke and Han figures are symptomatic of some kind of strategy on SSC's part, but I think they're cheaper simply because they were announced back before SSC's recent spate of price increases. If they announced Han or Luke today, they'd likely be even more expensive than Ki Adi Mundi because they have more accessories.

I'm with icruise on this one, I think you're implying conspiracy and thought processes where there are none, at least along the lines of your implication.

It's been awhile so I don't remember totally, but I believe there was a moan fest when Han and Luke went up for order that there was a price increase and people saw no reason for it.

The fact is, for whatever the reasons, the price scale for Sideshow 1/6 figures has shifted.

Basic, minimal pack in figures like Ki-Adi and Aayla are going to be in the $70 price range, with more loaded figures like Indy and CW Obi-Wan and Gandalf coming in at $90.

Pricing should be discussed around here, it's a driving factor for us all, but to make comparisons, one has to be observant of trends and current market status and such. Comparing a $70 figure today to a $70 figure of 6 months ago can't be done, within that time frame, figure prices have jumped $20; ANH Luke is about equivalent to Gandalf and Gandalf is $20 more. It sucks, but comparing prices, you almost have to do it with figures released within about a month or so of each other. Compared to a CW Obi-Wan or Indy, Ki-Adi is a less inclusive figure and rationally compared to the price of those figures, Ki-Adi is appropriately marked down.

I definately think SSC tries to minimize prices on major characters to sell more.

Luke and Han I felt experienced price increases on their own, the price increases after them I felt involved either price bump for the new figure or for advance outfit (Gandalf).

To me, the price on Ki (considering obscurity and lack of accessories) is a plan based on the limited nature and the fact that its one of their website only exclusives. Their purposely sacrificing quantity in favor of high prices.

I know I'd buy it at $60 rather than $70.

Man...complaining about price increases every 6 months is getting really old... if the trend continues are we looking at $180 SSC figures by 2010? Whats the ceiling?

Will 1/6s be limited to 1000 units or less and marketed to ubercollectors like PFs?

Also, please understand, I'm not calling SSC names or saying they're evil. I just think this is their strategy. Otherwise, why make Ki Adi an internet only figure?

Just remember, nothing Star Wars has really "sky rocketed" on the aftermarket yet... not too crazy anyway. I think you're safe if you pass.

well i gladly have pre-ordered this guy...twice, once from Forbidden Planet and ONCE from Sideshow...come nearer release i'll decide who gets my money.

just under $100 for sideshow (as i live in the gorran UK), or just under £40 for Forbidden planet...but spend 4 months waiting for it to arrive in they're warehouse AFTER initial release...such a tough choice

You might get a good conversion rate buying from SSC...

Some of you international guys are probably getting stuff at half price right now.

Well...here we are in another high-spirited discussion about another Star Wars figure....

Anyway....with all of the concern over head-n-boot-whaever size, I thought I'd offer the Hasbro one for discussion/comparison....

Now, "Hasblo" remarks aside, he's not bad coming from them. The boots certainly are bigger here (they always are on the Hasbro figures) and the head is scaled more on the narrow side compared to what Sideshow appears to be offering.

Another small item of note is Sideshow appears to just be re-using the standard Jedi belt when it's clear from the ref photos posted earlier in the thread and from even Hasbro's take on him that the belt is different. Small thing, but still...
