Damn, I really wish I pre-ordered the Wall Mount version as well, seeing now that you can remove the shield easily, would've preferred that over the pedestal due to the LEDs. Oh well :slap

I hope more reviews go up. Still undecided. :gah:

Ha, funny I was skeptical ordering the wall mount version but now its looking like a smart idea!

Funny how this seems like it will flip. Before the wall mount was sitting around at bbts before they took the listings down and the pedestal was always sold out. Now the wall mount will be more desirable.

Hopefully the pedestal will still be really nice :)

I agree with Chap, both will be nice. Just that added LED would've been awesome at the same price. I guess the pedestal has a better chance of fitting in a BESTA...:lol

I think I'm slowly leaning towards KA. I'm hoping to see more up close pics and more reviews because that red paint makes it look like the 1/6 custom die cast shields, just so thick and non-metallic at all. I'm still perplexed by him saying it's made of wood and alloy.

I think it is safe to say that the shield is alloy with leather straps. I wouldn't read too much into marble mouth regurgitating the solicitation information in that video.

This video you posted in the eFX thread actually speaks to your other point about the KA's not looking like it's metal. Once again I honestly think the EFX looks more like a metal/spun aluminum shield than the KA's between the two YouTube vids.

:lol

Yeah, I wish the paint job was more like the eFX. It looks metallic while not being. I hope I can find a nylon bag similar to the eFX to bring my shield to conventions.

Is the Cat Toys shield unlicensed?

No license on CatToys or Lager

So far:

- eFx looks metal but isn't
- KA is metal but doesn't look it

Picking the shield that best suits your needs sure isn't easy.

I forgot, did you end up getting both pedestal and wall mount versions? Also, are you completely sold on this KA version over the eFX now?

I actually cancelled both of KA versions. I REALLY wanted to like them, but there's just too much 'mystery' here and just too many little things that get nagging at me, especially when there's that much change to be dropped. I wanted the battle damaged version most of all, but then figured, classic is the way to go because it's Captain America....you need that definitive look. But I'm just not getting that vibe anymore. The paint app. on the classic is off to me. The fact that's it's metal is perfect. That's what I want, but the paint app is missing it for me.

And I truly feel someone will come along, sooner rather than later, and make the shield for me.

I think this will be pretty darn nice though. I just don't think it's the one I want.

I feel the exact same way. I want to have a metal shield that is reflective of the TFA look; the addition of some bullet BD would be ideal. The BD version KA went with is an odd choice as that style of BD only appeared on the teaser poster and never with Evans or in the film.

While I am 110% happy with the EFX as a representation of the updated/current shield you hit the nail on the head with the assertion that there will be more shields to be had down the road. I do find it extremely curious that EFX, KA and even Beast Kingdom all state that they only have the licences of TWS, Avengers or both.... not TFA. I wonder if one can speculate as to the future availability from another manufacturer

So Matches, since you already have the eFX, do you think it would be a smart move to hold onto that order (since it's $100 cheaper) and wait for a metal shield to come out in the future that looks better?

I would, and have. The EFX sells for real good money on the secondary so it is kind of a no risk proposition. The pedigree and legitimacy of the EFX will buoy it no matter what. It will appeal to Cap fans and film collectors alike down the road.

The King Arts is a gorgeous piece with two fantastic display options. Unfortunately it is not accurate. The reality is, based on the comments, is that the two biggest appeals seem to be the fact it is metal and the nicer display options. There is a million home brew display solutions out there and when a nicer metal shield inevitably hits how coveted do you think the KA one will be? In addition to that there is no edition size and it comes from a place which literally pages of knock off metal shields are shipping from on eBay and Alibaba.

I say get the EFX retain it and enjoy it; when something more desirable comes out it will be an easy flip. Easier than an unlicensed one from overseas or the KA which is really nice but not accurate to any version of Cap's shield and thus its credibility suffers imho. Just my two cents as a guy who has collected for a lot of years and learned many a hard lesson when playing the 'which is best game'.

Thanks. I trust your judgment good sir. I've never owned a prop replica and I see what you mean about resale with the eFX brand and ES for when/if a better "perfect" shield becomes available in the future. :hi5:

:hi5: The fact that you can say that the EFX was created in collaboration with the films original prop masters greatly enhances your resale prospects imho.

Man if you think EFX is good you should get your hands on some Master Replicas items :D I love my Star Wars replicas.

Are they by any chance related to the company that makes FX lightsabers? I have the old Vader and Darth Maul double ones and they are amazing! I heard they have one with removable hilt but I can't seem to find it to pre-order. Anyways, yeah, I think the eFX version looks a lot nicer despite the up close paint deficiencies. If the KA version paint job looked like eFX, I would hands down go after that one for the metal build and the display option, but it seems the eFX will be easier to flip down the line if they ever make a better metal version.

One in the same. Great props like Han Blaster or vehicles like snowspeeder. MR was very good with prop and vehicle products.
