How much would you pay for a live feed from seal team six taking down Kony six feet under?

I think think the 8 mil that people have donated to a useless cause is more than enough. Im including everything from intelligence to the bullets needed to penetrate this guys skull.

We already have people over there. :slap

They dont know that. The 30 minute Facebook and YouTube video is all they need to blindly throw money away. According to them it doesn't matter if it actually goes to a good cause or not. Why? Apparently it's the thought that counts.

I didn't say Americans aren't over there. I said I support us intervening, as I know we are. The video even says this. Did you even watch it? :slap

Have you even read my posts and links? :slap

I try not to. I typically want to scream at my computer. ;)

No but seriously, I effed up the formatting of that post. :slap

My response was to Sachiel, and then I got distracted and never even responded to you. Basically what I was going to say was that I did my research and didn't just watch the thirty minute video. I also have not donated a dime. You shouldn't make such blanket statements assuming those who are in agreement with the IC (or whatever you meant by that) only watched the 30 minute video and are now throwing their money at the cause. :peace

I get a kick out of the Hodge twins. The very first time I saw one of they're videos I couldn't stand them but then they started to win me over. They were also both in the Marines so I like them even more now. :D
But seriously they must be in they're real late 30's since they were in they're around the same time I was. They look good for they're age because I thought they were in they're mid 20's.

So what are people expecting their money to go to? Hiring bounty hunters? Giving guns to other forces? Getting these Invisible Children guys to convince Congress to go to war?

if they're so intent on stopping this guy, why don't they just hire a sniper and let 'em sit up in a tree 2 miles out & put one in his dome

I honestly still don't really understand the purpose of the orginization. The guy was #1 on the list before the group. What does everyone knowing about him do? I can promise you they didn't step in to assist because of this group, and I can assure you when they catch this guy it won't be because of this group either. By attaching a big bad wolf to the cause they are just using a cheap scare tactic to differintiate themselves from the next group asking for your money. They'd be better off marketing themselves to the actual cause and being genuine about their focus.

They have given money (all be VERY little) to local military. Now for the ironic part, both have numerous claims of rape, theft, and one even had a very large force of child soldiers used in last war and a small percentage came back.

So we have a charity that wants to stop a guy who forces children to become soldiers, by supporting armies who have been know to do the same thing.:slap

If this is such bull____, why would Oprah and Clooney be behind it?
Politcal Soapbox? Oprah needs more money?

Oprah needs to be relevant again...especially after the flop of her network.

I think Kony is a great cause for us to get involved in, realistically our military could leap in and get him without question I'm sure but I can also see where people would want resources pooled elsewhere.

As was mentioned before, the US military has been there for at least 10 years. I was offered the "opportunity" to go there back when I was on active duty. However, I politely declined since I would not be allowed to carry a weapon.

As for our military leaping in there and getting him without question, see how well this worked in Somalia.

I absolutely support America intervening in the case of Kony. While there are people who have it bad here in America, and we should be helping them, there is no one in America taking children from their homes and turning them into soldiers who kill their family and others. There are no buildings full of people sleeping on top of each other because they were run out of their homes and feared being slaughtered. There are no armies running around, killing at will. None of us have any idea what that's like. Ugandans and the other countries affected by this man don't have a means of really helping themselves without the assistance of someone bigger. Yes, America has problems, but just because the bigger monsters are international doesn't mean we can't or shouldn't help.

I guess you're unaware of the human trafficking problem right here in the US. Children ARE being taken from their homes right here in the US. They're not being turned into soldiers, they're being turned into prostitutes, etc.

if they're so intent on stopping this guy, why don't they just hire a sniper and let 'em sit up in a tree 2 miles out & put one in his dome

Much easier said than done...this isn't COD.

Basically he has been number one for a while, they haven't been able to locate him or get him. This organization continually lobbied various Senators and Congressmen to gain support for a US intervention. Recently Obama sent about 100 troops to actively assist to which Kony has realized that someone serious is after him and is actively moving to keep away.

What the group wants is to get his name out and get people talking, the reason is because if the US Government feels or the policymakers that this is a waste of resources or a waste of time then they'll pull the US Intervention forces. Obama has promised to keep them active but he is in an election year and the organization fears that if he doesn't get re-elected or if he is pressured too much then there goes the assistance and a chance to bring Kony to justice.

People have been chasing him for years but haven't got him. The organization believes by making him infamous they can garner more support for the effort and make it something that is on people's minds. Given that the US Government found and killed Osama Bin Laden I would want them hunting whomever we needed to find as well.

then wtf are they spending all this donation money on? an ad campaign? :pfft:

32% went to Uganda, the rest went to salaries for everyone in the organization and travel expenses, setting up the video itself with equipment, etc.

People get hung up on this but the group never says "Give us money so we can give it to these kids". The premise of the group is to make Kony so famous he won't be able to hide because people will know who and what he is. Nowhere in the video does it say 100% of the funds go here. That is people simply wanting the group to be something it never said it was. There are organizations for Ugandan relief but if you really want to look it this it's more like a grassroots movement to get everyone upset about this and then force the hand of our government to get involved and bring a resolution after so long. It makes the facts simplistic because it's more effective that way but the purpose is still the same.

I know my $40 isn't going to Uganda. For my $40 I'm buying a t-shirt, poster, a couple of bumper stickers and a couple of bracelets. About $13 of that is going to Ugandan relief, the rest who knows. The point behind it is that through that material I'm spreading the word about this man and his crimes, spreading awareness and sharing the video and having the conversations which was the basic point of the group. I could do the same without any of those things and just send the link (which the group also advocates) but for me it's powerful enough of a cause to want to send my money. There isn't rose colored goggles here. It's like the (PRODUCT)RED, which has been criticized for not having the impact that the promotionals are putting out there. There is a huge question on the amount of money going to charity as a percentage of every purchase. Apple's Nano only donated $10 with each $150 Nano. Some products that carried the Red label even less.

I saw the thread title and keep thinking this has to do with kanye west.
