It isn't an awareness issue. Kony was indicted back in 2005 by the International Criminal Court. He has been driven out of Uganda back in 2006, and is estimated to only have 300 or so soldiers left - many of whom are child soldiers, many any military action will result in more child deaths. And 800 US military advisers were sent to assist with the hunt last year.

So what exactly is an awareness campaign going to prove ? The answer is nothing - its all about raising the profile of the filmmaker.

Actually it's 100 US military advisors..

just think if Africa had any oil....

Would have been in there years ago...:lol

just think if Africa had any oil....

There is oil in Uganda, there just found a ton of it recently. Many of the International communities are calling farce on the the whole campaign saying it's a way to get troops in there and then seize the oil. Then again they claimed the same thing about us going into Iraq and why we would go into Iran.

I don't think we would go into iran unless they started screwing people around with the threat of real live nukes

I don't either but what I am saying is there are a lot of folks internationally who think we are in the Middle East solely for oil and they have started to put those acquisations on the KONY2012 campaign as well.

We didn't invade Iraq for Oil and we won't invade Iran for it either. Oil has become a scapegoat for the majority of US-led intervention world wide. Just look at the lobbyist for oil and their stance on invading Iraq and Iran.:lol

Oh I agree with you, it seems like everytime the US is involved in something the first thing out of the International critics groups is "Where is the Oil?" but I'm just bringing up that it's happening....again. That is also a large root behind a lot of people saying we should revert back to a country of exclusion (which isn't really feasable in this modern economy) because you're damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of ideal (which was brought up in this thread already)

I just find it interesting that all humanitarian missions whether military, grass-roots or otherwise seem to have a serious cynicial critique to them.

less then a year before iraq was invaded it was the first oil producing country to stop trading oil in dollars it started trading in euros iran has just done the same......that means if your in england france, japan wherever.... you had to buy dollars to buy oil, the federal reserve prints dollars so it gets control of oil through the dollars this is now starting to break down, paper costs barley anything to produce it was a nice scam while it lasted.....iran aint about oil its about keeping israel as the only one in the region with illegal nukes......would not be much use threatening everybody if they could retaliate now would it?

Personally, I think Bush went to Iraq for oil. But I don't believe for a second Kony 2012 has anything but positive intent.

its not about the american people its about corporate america check the oil companies yearly profits business has never been better

Gas prices suck and have changed the way I live. I'll always whine about it.

:nana:

When it comes to my care factor, even though that trip to the bowser hurts, I think the Ugandan child soldiers are doing it a bit tougher :wink1:

I agree but I'll still whine.

You don't whine about ANYTHING now that you've found out about Kony?

Come on......:lol

Oh I can whine with the best of 'em :lol

I just find the prevailing cynical response to this video a bit lame. It's not such a bad thing that spotty-faced teenagers are posting facebook status updates about Kony instead of how omg freakin' awesome Justin Bieber is :dunno

:exactly: I was sent this video by my 13 year old grandson. I was surprised by his and his friends interest in something beside some teeny bopper nonsense. That they believed that they could make a difference, first with one problem and then be encouraged to tackle another. Instead bitter criticism ensues. Trying to discourage and crush their hopes to better their world one step at a time.
