It'll still be $500 or more
True but you can honestly get more out of HT with what you're paying. It's not a big stretch going from a statue to a figure for a character like Kylo since he's completely covered up from head to toe. The PF already looks like HT's 1/6 version in a static pose.

It's just an option I suggested since people are out with what SS is offering for the price. I imagine the 1/4 version will look just as good if not better with the light up saber, poseability and Driver head sculpt that it'll probably come with.

I bought the HT 1:4 Iron Man. Decided to stick with polystone. Once a statue collector...

That's how I feel. I had a couple HT pieces. While they are really cool and detailed they just seemed like dolls to me. Nothing against them. I just couldn't get into them.

I'd guess that the 1/4 Hot Toys Kylo Ren will be $500 and include a light function. It won't require as much work and detail as the $550 Iron Man figures. Once posed, it'll look like the statue since it's completely covered in fabric. I'd rather give my money to HT than reward Sideshow for this statue.

I had $99 in rewards, so I ordered. Big Kylo fan and I think it looks awesome.

For me on the lightsaber thoughts.... I mean how often would you actually turn it on in consecutive hours? I had an Anakin EP3 PF and seriously I think I turned on the lightsaber feature all of 3 times, maybe... and out of fear the light might malfunction at some point. I felt in was a bit gimmicky and since this is a statue piece I am willing to accept not having a light-up feature.

It's pricey, but I don't order that many statues.

As for HT, I love their quality and am looking forward to seeing what their proto looks like, but I'll probably still be happier with the PF in the end. I am glad they went back to the basic base, too. It feels more museum-like for me and some may say it's a step backwards, but I actually liked that primary focus on the character and not this continuing to increase height and make them not fit the besta cases.

If HT offers a light up saber (which I am sure they will) there is no question which is the better buy...

Same. I'm still collecting a few here and there. Ant-Man, Rey (since there aren't many options for her for collectibles so far), etc. But mostly, not impressed because they look like dolls.

Sideshow still gets money out of it :lol

And I agree for the most part but that's why I said it's a bit different for a character like Kylo that's covered from head to toe in fabric. The 1/4 version in a static pose would look no different from the PF, if not better. The 1/6 version already looks good, heck it's hard to even tell the difference between it and the PF. Hot Toys tends to do even better when it comes to their 1/4 line.

Like I said, it's just an option I suggested since this is a character that would work when put in a static pose.

Prices like these make me glad I switched over to collecting 1:1 prop replicas. You could've bought a life-sized Kylo Ren helmet for less than this (with the initial Tier 1 pricing). From Anovos' Premier line.

That's crazy.

I would have had I known the price of this in advanced. Or even their Tie fighter pilot helmet.

Sideshow still gets money out of it :lol

So what? They get a fee if I order a HT figure from their website but lose a sale for their PF. It doesn't change the fact that they priced this too high and are using a gimmick on May 4th with double reward points and free shipping to get sales. I know you love Sideshow and think they can do no wrong, but how is this

$70 more expensive this?

The Darth Vader PF has a bigger base and lights.

So once again, a Kylo Ren product with no Driver head.

Damn it.

Maybe the soft goods were hard to to do inexpensively? Custom fabric? Looks like they've steered away from that in a lot of toys over just having plastic. I would think mass molding requires less labor/skill than sewing 1500 mini pleat pieces and robes.

The statue itself is beautiful but I can't stand the base and the price it outrageous. Pass for me.
