Why is everyone so excited about a two year old, pre-production concept trailer that may have nothing to do with the actual movie?

Because it doesn't have to be film footage, it shows the tone they're going for, it shows the level of detail to the cgi we're in for, how Godzilla will be depicted but for a few minor adjustments, his roar.

For most movies this wouldn't mean much, for Godzilla fans, it's huge, especially after the 98 film. Yeah it's a concept piece but it's so comforting that the concept is a good one unlike in 98. Plus, lots of us just feel left out hearing so much about it but never seeing it.

I get it. I just didn't word it properly, it just seems some people taking it as if it was an official trailer for the movie not an old concept teaser.

I'm sure some people won't realize what it is unless they've followed the history and read the numerous recaps of the trailer on the net, which by the way weren't that great, everyone made it seem like you saw nothing of Godzilla but for a quick roar shot, I was amazed by how much more there was and even though you can't tell what the other monster is meant to be you can make out the details, people made it sound like you saw shadows an hints of everything.
