Something I whipped up, all the posters created for this film since Legendary announced the rights in 2010.

So glad they have Godzilla in the film this time.

The last US one I waited the entire movie and was wondering why he never showed up!

You have to wonder why they paid to use the name but not the character.

One of the strangest things ever seen in movies.

Agreed. Hence the harsh reaction from Godzilla loyalist like ourselves. The director was fresh off his hit Independence Day which is probably why both Tri-Star and Toho thought he could do no wrong. Even he indirectly admits many years later he made a mistake with his decision. Heck, I just learned recently that GINO's facial design was inspired by Winnie Da Pooh?!!! What the hell?! REALLY!!! :slap

However, this made me feel better! :rock

Did anyone come up with the suggestion that the purpose of the military flares is for leading Godzilla to a desired location ?

I've read theory that it's to draw the mutos to Godzilla for attack, but that was in relation to the Hawaii scene where they shoot flares at him as he rises out of the ocean and in that context it wouldn't make sense as he's on his way to attack the muto at the airport so why lure the muto to him, and it's his first appearance so would the military even know to try such a thing.

I feel like it's going to end up something as simple Godzilla rising in dark and trying to see him better.

I don't think so.

A giant butterfly seems to do just fine though.

Giant butterfly?! You mean Mothra?! I hope we never see her in this or any sequels. Unless to be obliterated by G's atomic blast! Could never figure out the fascination over that giant insect anyway. There are way too many cooler monsters than Mothra!
